Dr. Kalpana Sarangi highlighted these risks, cautioning that without stringent regulatory oversight and rigorous Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), animal-derived exosomes might pose unforeseen dangers. In contrast, plant-based exosomes were discussed as a potentially safer alternative, free from the risks associated with animal-derived counterparts.

This debate is particularly relevant as the demand for hair restoration treatments continues to rise. Plant-based exosomes, which are less likely to trigger immune responses or carry harmful pathogens, are gaining attention as a safer and more reliable option. The discussion at ‘HairTalks’ underscores the need for further research and regulatory clarity to ensure the safe and effective use of exosome therapies in clinical settings.

Dr Vaibhav Kumar, Senior Manager, QR678, highlighted the significant advantages of plant-based exosomes over their animal-derived counterparts.
