New Delhi, Oct 15, 2025 — India wrapped up a dominant Test series against the West Indies with a seven-wicket victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, completing a 2-0 clean sweep. The match concluded swiftly on day five, with India chasing down a modest target of 121 in just one hour of play.
KL Rahul led from the front with an unbeaten 58 off 108 balls, steering India through a brief early wobble to secure the win. His composed innings featured six boundaries and two sixes, anchoring the chase with maturity and precision.
A Landmark Win for Gill’s Captaincy
This triumph marks India’s first Test series win under the leadership of Shubman Gill, following the 2-2 draw against England earlier this year. Despite the seemingly straightforward final-day proceedings, the series saw its share of challenges, particularly with the West Indies showing resilience in the second innings.
India’s dominance in Tests over the West Indies continues, with this being their 10th consecutive series win against the Caribbean side in the format.
West Indies’ Grit Delays the Result
After being asked to follow on, the West Indies showed commendable fight, led by centuries from John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103). Their efforts were bolstered by a gutsy last-wicket partnership of 79 runs, forcing the contest into the final day and briefly raising hopes of a potential upset.
However, India’s bowlers had done enough earlier in the game to ensure a relatively small target for the batters to chase.
Calm and Controlled Finish
On day five, KL Rahul and young B Sai Sudharsan resumed the innings and navigated early tight bowling spells. Sudharsan, after showing intent with a boundary over mid-off, was dismissed for 39, caught brilliantly by Shai Hope off Roston Chase.
Rahul, however, kept his composure. He attacked selectively, using his feet well against spin and employing the sweep shot to good effect. Shubman Gill added a quickfire cameo before falling for 18, but the result was never in doubt.
Dhruv Jurel contributed with a crisp boundary to get off the mark, before Rahul sealed the win with a punch off the back foot that raced to the boundary.
Match and Series Summary
India’s innings was built on a massive first-innings total of 518/5 declared, while the West Indies were bowled out for 248 and 390 in their two innings. Key bowling contributions came from Jasprit Bumrah (3/44) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/104) in the second innings.
The win adds 12 World Test Championship points to India’s tally, boosting their percentage to 61.9%, keeping them firmly in the top three of the table.
