SIMATS School of Engineering Organized CHAKRA 2022 Sports Tournament
Chennai, 3rd November 2022: CHAKRA 2022 swank the SIMATS campus’s inheritance of a rich sporting culture, organized by the SIMATS School of Engineering(SSE). During the tournament, over 1000 students and faculty participated enthusiastically in various sports such as Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Throwball, and Badminton were among the sports played at SSE – CHAKRA 2022.
In the august presence of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Chadaram Shivaji, Director – SIMATS School of Engineering Dr. Ramya Deepak, Principal of SSE Dr. B. Ramesh, and other principals of SIMATS constituent colleges, Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor of SIMATS, inaugurated and declared the CHAKRA 2022 officially open. In his speech, the Chancellor praised SSE for its efforts to identify, improve, and encourage sports talent at the local and state level in the state. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor stated that such events would promote social interaction and improve students’ social skills.
SSE is instrumental in recognizing and shaping sportsmanship into better talents, despite engineering colleges being identified as an embodiment of academics due to the profound education system. Participants from various colleges in Tamil Nadu thanked SSE for organizing such activities for the holistic development of students and faculty. Students and faculty from across the state travelled long distances in the true spirit of sports to compete in the SSE – CHAKRA 2022.
The SIMATS School of Engineering predominantly aims at producing engineers who can also excel in sports amongst the everyday bustling lives of students. Every year, the SIMATS campus will host the SSE CHAKRA, a State Level Inter Engineering Tournament, with the goal of instilling a sporting culture among the teaching learning community.
Apart from imparting innovative academics and curriculum, Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor of SIMATS, and Dr. Ramya Deepak, Director – SIMATS School of Engineering, continuously encourages and supports sports among students and athletes as a contribution to the nation.
