Puncch Beat 2: Siddharth Sharma QUASHES rivalry rumours with ALTBalaji’s youth-drama co-star Priyank Sharma

Puncch Beat 2 Ensemble Poster
The handsome and talented Siddharth Sharma made his acting debut with Puncch Beat in 2019. Two years down the line, the actor is reprising his character, Ranbir Choudhary, in the second instalment of Puncch Beat. The Youth Drama, which streams on streaming giant ALTBalaji has been receiving rave reviews since it started streaming this Sunday. Siddharth Sharma, who is back on the show, is quite excited with the response he is getting for the show. “The amount of love I’ve received is overwhelming,” he said.

Talking about the show’s second season, Siddharth Sharma said, “Puncch Beat 2 is not just a high school drama anymore. This time the drama exceeds from school to the family. There’s a lot of family drama that umps the drama quotient. So, this time, the audience won’t just get to see what happens in school and what happens before and after that. They’d be able to relive their school days and at the same the adversities one has to go through while growing up. For me, the most exciting part of playing Ranbir is his character arc. He will go through a total transformation that would leave the fans astonished.”

While Ranbir and Rahat’s rivalry on screens is brooding and taken on the next level in the season, Sidharth also spoke about his equation with co-star Priyank Sharma. There have been rumours about the two not getting along on the sets. However, Siddharth quashed all rumours. He said, “We’ve started our careers together. So, there is a certain bond that we have. We might fight sometimes, but then by the end of the day, we are not rivals. We are there for each other. Also, he is quite a good actor and everyone has told me that our scenes together have come out pretty good. And as of on-set rivalry, he was nothing but cooperative even during the fight sequences.”

Puncch Beat 2 is the sequel to the hit youth boxing drama Puncch Beat, released in 2019. The ALTBalaji show centres around college, teen drama and also a murder mystery this year. The second season stars Priyank Sharma, Siddharth Sharma, Khushi Joshi, Harshita Gaur, Samyuktha Hegde, Kajol Tyagi, Nikhil Bhambri, Samir Soni, Niki Aneja Walia, and others.

Atharva Karve as Bhimrao Ambedkar

Shravani Abhang as Ramabai AmbedkarSpeaking about portraying the prolific character of Bhimrao Ambedkar, Atharva Karve says, “It is an honour to be chosen to play a character of an inspiring leader of all times, Dr B.R. Ambedkar. I always wanted to essay this character, and it is a dream come true for me. Babasaheb’s life and legacy have been an inspiration for many. His list of talents and accomplishments is incomparable, a great thinker, a leader, a social reformer, a thorough nationalist and economist and most importantly, the founding father of the Constitution of India. Dr B.R. Ambedkar was a leader par excellence and whose legacy is unparalleled. No other personality of his stature could measure up to his contribution to society. Portraying a character of this stature is a big responsibility, and it is a big moment for me. Dr Ambedkar’s books and works have deeply inspired me. I have grown up reading a lot about him. I never thought that I would get an opportunity to be a part of a show and play Dr Ambedkar himself one day! I am reading in-depth about his life and legacy to grasp as much information about him. From various articles printed about his practices referring to his biographies written by multiple authors, we also have an eminent researcher on board who has been prepping me a lot about Dr B.R. Ambedkar. Besides reading, I also try to watch various documentaries made on him in my spare time. I am excited about this new phase and eagerly looking forward to the audience seeing and accepting me as their Bhimrao Ambedkar.”

About her role as Ramabai Ambedkar, Shravani Abhang comments, “I feel lucky to be chosen to portray Ramabai’s character. It is a delightful experience to play this powerful character. Ramabai Bhimrao Ambedkar has been one of the greatest inspirations for the doyen of social justice Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. There is very limited information on Ramabai. Therefore, through the medium of this show, the audience will get to know much more about her and the role she played in Babasaheb’s life. Ramabai Ambedkar is one of those women who silently stood resolute in rendering support to Babasaheb. She was a symbol of humility, resilience, and compassion. There is so much to learn from Ramabai Ambedkar. I am truly honoured to be given this opportunity to play this role and be a part of such an inspiring show.”

Watch Atharva Karve as Ambedkar and Shravani Abhang as Ramabai starting July 20thin &TV’s Ek Mahanayak Dr B.R. Ambedkar every Monday to Friday at 8.30 pm

Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series announces biopic on legendary choreographer Saroj Khan

Bhushan Kumar’s

The story of struggle, the story of success, the story of India’s first female choreographer will be brought to life by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. One of India’s leading production houses, T-Series, has acquired the rights to produce the legendary choreographer Saroj Khan’s biopic.

Nirmala Kishanchand Sadhu Singh Nagpal aka Saroj Khan who brought sparkle to Bollywood with her dance choreographies was known for several of her successful songs mostly in the 80s and 90s. A career-spanning around 50 years worked with many top actors and created some of the industry’s most famous dance scenes.

Bhushan Kumar recently acquired rights to her life story from Saroj Khan’s children Raju Khan, Sukaina Khan and the daughters of Hina Khan.

Saroj Khan

As Bollywood’s first female choreographer, Saroj Khan was among only a few women who worked behind the camera at a time when nearly all the technicians were men. The pioneer that she became, Saroj Khan, joined the industry when she was a 3-year-old child to become a dancer at 10 and soon became an assistant choreographer at the age of 12. Choreographing for around 3500 songs in her career span, Saroj Khan gave us several hit dance songs like ‘Ek Do Teen’, ‘Choli Ke Peechey Kya Hai’, ‘Hawa Hawai’, ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’ to songs in films like Devdas, Lamhe, Nagina, Kalank, Chandni, Saawariya, Taal, Beta, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and many others. The 3 time National Award-winning choreographer, who was known for her collaboration with Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi, also worked with several millennial actors.

Bhushan Kumar says, “Sarojji not only mesmerized the audiences with actors performing her dance moves, but she also revolutionized the choreography scene in Hindi cinema. Her dance forms told stories which helped every filmmaker. She brought audiences to the theatres who saw their favourite actors dancing to her steps. Sarojji’s journey that started as early as a 3-year-old was met with a lot of ups and downs and the success and respect she gained from the industry has to be brought to life. I remember visiting film sets with my father and seeing her bring life to the songs with her choreography. Her dedication towards the art was commendable. I am glad Sukaina & Raju agreed to let us make this biopic of her mother.”

Raju Khan, who is a choreographer himself, says, “My mother loved dancing and we all saw how she dedicated her life towards that. I am glad I followed in her footsteps. My mother was loved and respected by the industry and it is an honour of us, her family, that the world can see her story. I am glad Bhushanji has decided to make a biopic on the graceful Saroj Khan.”

Sukaina Khan, says, “My mother was loved and respected by the entire industry but we have closely seen her struggle and fight to become who she was. We hope with this biopic, Bhushanji will be able to tell her story, her love for us, her passion for dancing, and her fondness for her actors and respect to the profession with this biopic.”

Saroj Khan who passed away last year worked with Madhuri Dixit in Kalank and also became a popular face on television as a judge on dance shows like Naach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Ja.

The team will announce further developments soon.
