Signature Global Champions Sustainable Building Practices on World Environment Day

New Delhi: World Environment Day is a global event celebrated annually on June 5th to raise awareness and encourage action for environmental protection. As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, real estate companies play a crucial role in promoting sustainable practices and mitigating the impact of their operations on the environment. It is more important than ever to highlight the green initiatives and sustainable building practices adopted and innovated by leading real estate companies in India, such as Signature Global (India) Ltd. As a pioneer of eco-friendly sustainability, Signature Global has stood steadfast in its commitment to environmental conservation and championed the inculcation of future-ready urban development.

Air Quality Monitoring Network:
A Step Towards Cleaner Construction
Signature Global, in collaboration with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), has taken a significant step towards cleaner construction practices. Under the ‘Cleaner Air and Better Health’ (CABH) project supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), they have deployed a first-of-its-kind air quality monitoring network in Gurugram. This network comprises nine air quality monitors and one automatic weather station, providing real-time data on pollution concentrations during construction activities. By strengthening regulations and promoting clean construction practices, Signature Global aims to mitigate air pollution on construction sites.

Compliance, Accreditation & Certification
Signature Global sets an example for corporate governance and compliance by being an ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certified company. These certifications testify to their adherence to quality management, environmental management, and occupational health and safety standards at their workplaces and project sites.

Green Building Practices
Signature Global actively adopts green building practices, exemplified by most of the affordable housing projects being IGBC gold rated. They have received the 8th IGBC Green Champion Award for their contribution to the green affordable housing movement in India.
Additionally, the International Finance Corporation Bank (IFC), the landing arm of the World Bank has facilitated several EDGE certifications to the Independent floor projects of Signature Global. EDGE certification promotes resource-efficient buildings in an affordable manner. Operational energy-saving features, water-saving measures, and embodied energy-saving practices are integral parts of their green building development approach.

Construction Technology & Innovative Measures

Signature Global embraces advanced construction technologies to ensure sustainable development. Their use of Aluminium Formwork (AFW) technology enables earthquake-resistant and leakage-seepage-free structures. This technology optimizes efficiency and produces high-quality results. The company follows the mantra of 3R (Reduce, Recycle & Reuse) to minimize waste from the construction process. Waste materials such as bricks, tiles, and steel are recycled and reused, contributing to environmental conservation. Furthermore, Signature Global promotes the use of fly ash bricks, which are made from recycled waste material, in their construction projects.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder and Chairman, of Signature Global (India) Ltd. said, “The World Environment Day gives us an opportunity to reflect on the conservation of the ecosystem and come together to adopt sustainable building practices. As a socially responsible firm, Signature Global stands steadfast in our commitment to the protection of our community and people. We have worked extensively to inculcate the most state-of-art construction techniques to ensure that we can safeguard the Environment for generations to come.”

On World Environment Day, it is crucial to recognize the efforts of real estate companies in India, such as Signature Global (India) Limited, that are leading the way in adopting sustainable building practices. Their initiatives, such as the deployment of air quality monitoring networks, compliance with international standards, and innovative construction technologies, demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection. These green practices not only contribute to a healthier environment but also set new benchmarks for the real estate industry. As we strive for a sustainable future, it is essential for other real estate developers to follow suit and adopt similar pollution-monitoring and control methods, creating a greener and more sustainable built environment in India.
