Jan 30: As India prepares to welcome the world to the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi in February, the country is shaping not just conversations on AI, it is also shaping the very knowledge base that will guide responsible innovation across the Global South. At the heart of this effort are six research-driven casebooks and a research symposium initiative, developed in partnership with leading international and domestic institutions, focused on real-world, high-impact AI deployments and designed to explore innovative ways of driving impact.
Why it matters: Together, these initiatives create a unified knowledge backbone for the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, showcasing scalable and responsible AI solutions, particularly from the Global South. More than just publications, these casebooks serve as strategic playbooks for countries seeking to scale AI safely, inclusively, and sustainably. Collectively, they position India as a global leader—and a hub for evidence-based, ethical, and research-driven AI innovation.
Here’s a spotlight on the five research casebooks driving the India–AI Impact Summit 2026:
1. AI for Energy Casebook (IndiaAI × International Energy Agency)
The AI for Energy Casebook captures how AI is reshaping global energy systems—from forecasting renewable generation to improving grid reliability and driving industrial efficiency. Developed with the International Energy Agency, it compiles proven, real-world deployments to create a shared knowledge base that can help countries, especially across the Global South, use AI to advance sustainability and energy security.
2. AI Health Use Cases Across the Global South (IndiaAI × World Health Organization)
Healthcare systems worldwide are being stress-tested, by pandemics, shortages. This casebook documents AI solutions that are strengthening healthcare systems across the Global South. In partnership with the World Health Organization, it highlights real deployments in diagnostics, disease surveillance, maternal health, supply-chain optimisation, and telemedicine—capturing what worked, what impact was achieved, and how these models can be responsibly scaled by other nations.
3. Compendium on Gender-Transformative AI Solutions (IndiaAI × UN Women)
Curated with UN Women India, this compendium spotlights AI innovations that actively advance gender equality. It gathers evidence-based solutions supporting women’s safety, financial inclusion, climate resilience, health, education, and skilling—demonstrating how thoughtfully designed AI can challenge bias and drive measurable impact for women and girls across the Global South.
4. Compendium on the Real-World Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Education (IndiaAI × CSF × EkStep Foundation)
This compendium spotlights scalable, real-world AI solutions improving foundational learning, supporting teachers, and advancing inclusion across emerging economies. Contributors are invited to submit abstracts and case studies by 25 December 2025. Shortlisted entries will be showcased at the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, creating a global knowledge resource for evidence-based AI adoption in education.
5. Compendium on AI and Agriculture (IndiaAI × AAIC × World Bank)
Developing in partnership with Government of Maharashtra’s AI and Agritech Innovation Center and supported by the World Bank, this compendium will spotlight a collection of deployed, scalable AI solutions delivering measurable value to farmers and agricultural systems.
6. Research Symposium on AI and Its Impact (IndiaAI)
The Research Symposium on AI and Its Impact, scheduled for 18 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, brings frontier research to the centre of India’s AI ecosystem. Featuring top researchers from India and the Global South, it showcases high-impact work presented at major AI conferences and fosters deeper collaboration between research, policy, and implementation through plenaries, international showcases, and a Global South poster session.
Together, these five casebooks and research symposium form the research backbone of the India–AI Impact Summit 2026. They:
- Capture replicable, high-impact AI solutions
- Strengthen South–South and international collaboration
- Support ethical, inclusive AI governance
Enable India’s role as a global leader in people-centric AI innovation
As the world arrives in New Delhi, these casebooks and the Research Symposium will showcase how research-led, responsible AI can deliver transformation at population scale.
