Bengaluru/Noida, India September 10, 2024: Lam Research Corp. (Nasdaq: LRCX) today announced the launch of its inaugural Lam Research Challenge in India. This competition will bring together cross functional teams across engineering colleges in India who are passionate about solving difficult systems engineering problems with technology, innovation, and teamwork.
Hosted in partnership with T-Works, India’s largest prototyping center, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the competition is the first of its kind in India that will focus exclusively on systems challenges in semiconductor equipment manufacturing. Students will need to display a cross-disciplinary approach including firmware, hardware, systems thinking and keen business operations acumen while arriving at solutions.
The Lam Research Challenge will be held over three rounds between October and November 2024. Registrations for the challenge will close on October 5, 2024, and the final round will be held during the last week of November. The top 25 teams that emerge from the first two virtual rounds will assemble at the IISc, Bengaluru for the finale. The finale will involve building a prototype to solve a systems challenge, and evaluations will be based on design, assembly and integration, hardware and firmware, cost optimisation, and overall project management.
Undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students meeting qualification criteria are eligible to participate. In addition to exclusive internships at Lam for eligible students, winning teams will receive a cash prize of INR 5 lakhs, and the second and third place teams will receive cash prizes of INR 3 lakhs and 1.5 lakhs, respectively. Lam Research encourages students to form diverse teams comprising of a range of engineering disciplines.
