Fittr joins hands with Vedantu to provide wellness sessions for children to promote an active lifestyle

We all have heard of the famous idiom All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. It is essential to schedule some physical activity in the day along with academic learning to accelerate overall growth and wellbeing of a child. To bring this philosophy to life, Fittr, one of the world’s largest community-first online health and fitness brands, today announced a collaboration with Vedantu, a pioneer in LIVE online learning, to promote healthy and active living in children through monthly sessions.

Physical activities that engage students are associated with higher levels of concentration and well-composed behaviour, which directly influence students’ mental health. Thus, including physical activity in one’s lifestyle from an early age not only keeps cardiovascular problems at bay but also helps children attain better academic outcomes. Fittr and Vedantu’s wellness sessions will be conducted by certified Fittr coaches using Vedantu’s platform, under the V-Nurture and Super School programs. Despite the ongoing discussion regarding when sports may resume normalcy without restrictions, this is an opportunity for students to become well-rounded as well as experience the benefits of scientifically backed courses separately from academic courses.

According to a report by the ‘Center for Disease Control and Prevention 2019’, it was observed that only 50 per cent boys, and less than 34 per cent girls aged 12 to 15 were as fit as they should be. Additionally, it was monitored that regular and ample physical activity and a nutritious diet in early childhood helps produce superior cognitive outcomes. It leads to a balanced growth and development and has numerous mental and psychosocial benefits which enhances the overall learning experience. After examining such statistics and facts, Fittr planned this initiative to create awareness and educate children around the need of nutrition and fitness.

With this one-of-a-kind collaboration, Fittr and Vedantu aims to connect with around two million kids in the next 12 months. Vedantu, true to its vision of providing a comprehensive curriculum, recognizes the importance of nutrition and well-being in enhancing student learning and improving their lifestyle.

Speaking on the association, Jitendra Chouksey, Founder and CEO, Fittr, said, “At Fittr, we have a dedicated vertical for children, Fittr Kids, wherein certified coaches and experts offer scientifically backed solution towards exercise and nutrition. We also offer activity and training-based plans for holistic wellness solutions. This is for the first time a fitness and an ed-tech platform are coming together to achieve an exceptional goal of making over two million lives healthier. With Fittr’s expertise in urging people to lead healthy lifestyle and Vedantu’s remarkable knowledge and network, we aim to educate children about the importance and fundamentals of nutrition and physical activity.”

“At Vedantu, we have always aimed to help students reach their full potential by providing them with all-around development. In addition to the variety of post-class activities offered at V-Nuture and Super School to boost a child’s well-being, the school also stresses the importance of an active lifestyle and health as critical factors during the shaping of a student’s life. As part of our one-of-a-kind collaboration with Fittr, we aim to promote the importance of nutrition and wellness through live nutrition sessions and wellness sessions led by Fittr coaches. This program will be offered on Vedantu’s innovative LIVE platform, W.A.V.E, which is designed to keep students engaged. Even moderate physical activity enhances cognitive alertness, helps cope with anxiety and aids a healthy lifestyle. Our students are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity and emerge stronger for a better tomorrow. “, says Pulkit Jain, Co-Founder and Head of New Initiatives & Culture, Vedantu.

Starting from January 26th, the first session on ‘Masterclass on fundamentals of Science backed Exercise & Nutrition’ will be hosted on Vedantu’s platform, led by Fittr coach Nachiketh Shetty.

This New Year’s let’s take a resolution of keeping our mind and body healthy with Fittr and Vedantu’s wellness classes.

Against this backdrop, the online workshop on ‘Upgrading & Upscaling SMEs of Uttar Pradesh’ on 28 January from 1130-1315 Hrs will bring together all important stakeholders on a common platform to brainstorm and share views on the key issues being faced by Indian MSMEs as also to evolve a roadmap for their sustenance and helping them become globally competitive. Says Kiron Chopra, Convenor, CII – MSME UP State Panel and Chairman & Managing Director Chopra Retech Rubber Products Pvt Ltd., “It is ironic that MSMEs, the biggest job & wealth creators get the least attention, handholding and policy support to perform to their full potential. This must change. This dialogue, therefore, assumes importance as the growth of MSME’s can transform the economic landscape of India and help its aspiration of becoming a $5Tn Economy.”

Through this partnership, the Wadhwani Advantage program will train SMEs to diagnose their business problems & empower them with all-round capabilities for sustainable growth through tools, content and connects on our technology platform, ‘Genie’. Adds Samir Sathe, Executive VP, Wadhwani Advantage at Wadhwani Foundation, “We are excited to take UP’s competitiveness at a different level by creating 1000 role model SMEs; this grand event is just a start of this journey.”

Those SMEs with a high credit rating are eligible for an unsecured loan while others have to securitize the loan to fulfil their working capital needs.  We are resolving  this challenge through M1xchange TReDS platform.

Finance Crafter Enterprises (FCE) is a world-class financial supermarket focused on (1) Financial Services and (2) Outsourced Services with expertise in managing the financial health of SMEs. Says Nikita Bose, Chief Executive Officer- Finance Crafter Enterprises

Salaam Bombay Foundation’s Media Academy curates a virtual exhibition to portray the importance of media literacy

In an increasingly complex media environment with constant technology changes, adults as well as youngsters today may find it hard to keep pace. While the whole world learns every day from the media, most young students need a better understanding of its inner-workings and the effects it has on them.

This is why educating youngsters about mass media is an important, albeit challenging, task. Mumbai-based Salaam Bombay Foundation’s unique event aims to address exactly this. The NGO’s Media Academy will be presenting a virtual walk-through exhibition titled Education Beyond Books – Practising New Age Media Literacy on January 24, 2022. The Media Academy has reached out to over 225 students from 16 schools who are involved with the event.

The event holds at its core the fact that media literacy is necessary to encourage young people to question, evaluate, understand and appreciate the multimedia culture. Media Literacy equips youngsters to access, analyse, evaluate, create, reflect upon and act while becoming active and engaged media consumers.

Events of this kind are significant at a time when the country’s media and entertainment industry is valued at more than a trillion Indian rupees and is expected to continue growing. The Indian media landscape comprises of thousands of registered newspapers and periodicals, nearly 900 private television channels, and more than 1,000 radio stations operating in multiple regional languages including Hindi and English. (https://www.statista.com/topics/8332/news-consumption-trends-in-india/#dossierKeyfigures)

With its central theme Education Beyond Books – Practising New Age Media Literacy, the event adopts a four-pronged approach – exhibiting the Media Academy trainees’ skills acquired over the three-year training period along with a showcase of their different projects, introducing its students to the various career options within media, collaborating with media organisations at various levels and creating internship and job opportunities for students.

There will be multiple exclusive live workshops with industry experts and a comprehensive showcase of the various initiatives conceptualised and driven by students of the Media Academy, highlighting the impact of Media Literacy on society and its many evolving mechanisms.

Speaking about the exhibition, Rajashree Kadam, Vice President, Projects (Arts and Media), Salaam Bombay Foundation said, “At a time when media has the all-pervasive power to inform and educate different levels, sections and audiences in the society, it is imperative that we stay informed or Media Literate. We believe that our students are responsible young agents of change and they can drive important discussions within their communities. With this in mind, our Media Academy focuses on arming our students with two very seminal tools: a platform and a voice. This exhibition is an extension of this thought process where we wish to create discussions on Understanding Motives through Media Literacy.”

A highlight of the exhibition will be the array of stalls that will discuss and throw light on the different segments related to the topic like Print, Electronic Media, Citizen Journalism, Films, Radio, Social Media, Photography and a stall on the NGO’s DreamLab project.

Patient who lost upper jaw to black fungus facing enormous trauma, rehabilitated with a breakthrough surgery!

Specialists at LBR Dental and Implant Center, Hyderabad; performed a complex maxillofacial surgery, restored the upper jaw of a 55 year old patient with advanced dental implants and helped him, lead a normal life. The patient lost the jaw to the deadly Mucormycosis. Dental surgeons led by Dr K. A. Reddy, Chief Implant Surgeon and Key Opinion Leader of BioLine implants, India and Overseas; ably supported by Dr Swapnil Pandey, a Digital Expert and Dr Rangnath Jawar, Oral and maxillofacial surgeon; rehabilitated the patient in 3 days using top-notch BioLine Zygomatic and Tubero Pterygoid implants, through a break through maxillofacial surgery. Mucormycosis or Black Fungus, impacted several patients post COVID care and turned life threatening to many.

The COVID survivor, hailing from karimnagar district, though overcame COVID, was afflicted with Mucormycosis, which turned life threatening for him. Prolonged treatment enabled him to get rid of the Black fungus, but by then he had lost major portion of his upper jaw. There was no end to his misery, as he could neither chew food or swallow, also lost his ability to speak and faced myriad other problems including difficulty in breathing. It impacted his health severely, developed debility and had to endure enormous trauma. In addition, social prejudice led to he getting into a shell and impacting him psychologically too.

He visited several dental hospitals to seek treatment, most didn’t have the expertise to treat, at the few which gave hope to him, the treatment cost was prohibitively expensive and well beyond his means. That’s when a non-profitable organisation, Mucor Care Foundation, operating to rehabilitate patients who lost jaws and teeth due to fungal infection, came forward and provided the much needed succour to him.

Though Zygoma and pterygoid implants are being done with great finesse in specialised centres, this case is considered as a watershed, as it was done on a mucormycosis patient who had no bone left. The best part is that the entire surgery was done under local anaesthesia and fixed teeth were replaced in 3 days says, Dr K. A. Reddy.

The Zygoma and Pterygoid implants, used to treat this patient are unique from the conventional dental implants. These implants are apt for patients who do not have adequate or enough bone lost due to age, infection or any trauma. The Zygoma implants anchor in to the zygomatic bone or cheek bone rather than the upper jaw, which was missing in this patient. These implants are handy when upper jaw bone quality or quantity is inadequate for the placement of regular dental implants. While, Pterygoid implants are placed in the posterior most region of the upper jaw, help avoid sinus-lifting or other grafting procedures to replace teeth immediately within 3 days without any cantilevers. Both Zygoma and Pterygoid implants require surgical excellence of highest order, to position them and have excellent prognosis. There is a dearth of this expertise in the country.

As the patient lost most of his upper jaw and there was no jaw bone left to place regular implants. Zygoma and pterygoid implants were the only alternative for him, therefore the surgeons placed Double zygoma implants in him for extra anchorage, which enabled to firmly fix the teeth within three days. The patient can now lead a normal life, as this is a permanent life time treatment.
