
Hyderabad, Feb 02: The Apollo University, in collaboration with the University of Leicester, UK hosted a one-day education summit titled “Apollo–Leicester Education Summit 2026” with the theme “Global Careers in the Age of AI”, at The Park, Hyderabad, today. The summit was designed for senior secondary students preparing for higher education and future career pathways in 2030 and beyond. The summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, academicians, and parents on a single platform.
The interactive forum provided a forward-looking perspective on how education systems must evolve to equip students with future-ready skills. Experts engaged in in-depth discussions on emerging career opportunities, the rapid transformation of industries, and the critical competencies students need to thrive in a fast-changing global landscape.
With careers evolving faster than ever, and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence adding to uncertainty among Indian parents, the summit addressed concerns around choosing the right academic and professional paths. It offered clarity on global career trends, the skills that will truly matter in 2030 and beyond, and practical ways to bridge the gap between education and employment. Special focus areas included engineering, technology, healthcare, and business.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Henrietta O’Connor, Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Leicester, said, “It was an honour to be part of the inaugural UK-India higher education summit for parents. Our partnership with Apollo expands far beyond the boundaries of a traditional higher education. At the University of Leicester, we are integrating employability directly into the curriculum. We are no longer just teaching theory; we are embedding 100 hours of work-related learning into all of our undergraduate degrees to give students the skills they need for their future careers.”
In his opening address, Prof. Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, The Apollo University, remarked, “Global education today is less about a stamp on a passport and more about a shift in mindset. It is about creating students who are locally rooted but globally competent. Whether they study in India or the UK, the goal is to equip them with the cross-cultural fluency required to solve borderless problems.”
The summit featured a wide range of thought-provoking sessions, including Global Higher Education for the Next Generation; Inside the Future: A Look Ahead Across Leading Industries; Why Core Engineering Matters Now More Than Ever; Reimagining Business Education in a Tech-Driven World; The Future of Healthcare and Research; Computer Science Beyond Traditional IT Careers; and How Apollo–Leicester Prepares Students for the Future. Parents particularly appreciated the actionable insights and the roadmap provided to help groom their children for tomorrow’s careers.
Over 20 distinguished speakers from the UK and India shared their expertise, including industry leaders, policymakers, and academicians. Notable speakers included representatives from Bosch, Google, Sun Life Global, HAL, Thrymr Software, 101 GenAI, KIMS Hospitals, Apollo Knowledge, and the University of Leicester, among others. Their collective insights enriched discussions on innovation, sustainability, digital transformation, and future workforce readiness.
The Apollo–Leicester Education Summit 2026 successfully created a meaningful dialogue between academia, industry, and families, reinforcing a shared commitment to preparing students for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
