
Mumbai Jan 21: VIBGYOR Group of Schools, one of India’s leading K-12 education networks, successfully concluded the first edition of the VIBGYOR Literature Festival at VIBGYOR High, Malad East, on Saturday, 17 January 2026. The festival reflected the Group’s commitment to creating learning spaces that nurture curiosity, creativity and meaningful engagement beyond the classroom.
Designed as a celebration of literature and ideas, the VIBGYOR Lit Fest brought together students, parents, educators and creative professionals to engage with stories through interactive and participative formats. The festival focused on strengthening reading habits while enabling learners to think critically, articulate perspectives and explore storytelling across genres.
The festival was inaugurated by renowned celebrity life coach Dr. Mickey Mehta, who also addressed students during the opening session. He spoke about the importance of instilling curiosity in kids for their holistic growth. He also shared with students his ten guiding principles to help them revolutionize, internalize, humanize, and strengthen their inner selves.
At the event, Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, a renowned author, explained how parents can use metaphors and stories from our mythology to impart life lessons on children and participated in a Meet & Greet Author interaction. The event also featured an engaging line-up of speakers including Ms. Savitha Rao, Ms. Sanaya Irani and Mr. Rahul Saini, who contributed diverse perspectives on literature, creativity and learning through sessions conducted across the day.
The day-long programme featured a variety of interactive formats, including author conversations exploring the craft of storytelling, book review sessions aimed at strengthening analytical thinking, and creative workshops that encouraged students to visually and narratively express their ideas. Activities such as comic creation studios, book cover design workshops and dedicated writing zones offered hands-on learning experiences, while book exchanges and curated showcases introduced learners to a wide spectrum of literary genres.
Commenting on the successful conclusion of the festival, Ms. Kavita Kerawalla, Vice Chairperson, VIBGYOR Group of Schools, said, “At VIBGYOR, we see literature as a powerful tool for shaping independent thought, empathy and expression. The festival was an extension of our belief in experiential learning, giving children the opportunity to imagine, question and create beyond the confines of textbooks and screens, while nurturing a genuine love for reading.”

Adding a modern and experiential dimension to the festival, Myra Multimedia conducted workshops that enabled learners to explore storytelling through visual and multimedia formats. Amar Chitra Katha (ACK Comics) also conducted Creative Writing and Comic Making workshops, where students wrote and illustrated alongside artists while gaining insights into the creation and legacy of iconic Tinkle characters such as Suppandi and Shambu.
With its successful first edition, the VIBGYOR Literature Festival emerged as a vibrant celebration of language, ideas and creativity, reinforcing the importance of literature-led engagement in shaping expressive, confident and thoughtful learners.
