Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal All Set To Raise Aviation Safety Norms In The Monsoon Session
July 21, 2025 , New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP and Founder Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal is all set to raise critical national issues during the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning tomorrow (July 21). His focus is likely to include aviation safety norms, tax and regulatory relief, and ease of doing business all issues that lie at the core of the common man’s everyday life.
First up, Dr. Mittal is likely to demand an immediate discussion on aviation safety norms post the tragic Air India 171 crash in Ahmedabad on June 12 that led to the death of 260 passengers. He is set to highlight systemic lapses flagged in recent audits of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). He believes, ‘The Ahmedabad crash was not just a tragedy. It was a wake-up call. With India’s aviation sector expanding rapidly, we cannot let regulatory gaps threaten lives. I want to know from the Government as to what steps are being taken to build a robust safety framework. As policy makers we need to assure our citizens that they are safe.’
Alongside passenger safety, Dr. Mittal is hopeful of a constructive debate on key legislative proposals such as The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill and Jan Vishwas Bill, which aim to bring tax reforms and reduce compliance burden on citizens while improving ease of doing business for small scale industries and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Mittal reaffirmed his commitment to policy interventions that benefit the aam aadmi and safeguard national interest, saying, ‘From tax reforms to travel safety, every decision we take must ease the burden on citizens and protect their rights. That is what we are here for!’
