Through an ensemble of compelling talks, insightful panel discussions, and interactive sessions, attendees will traverse the world of ideas crafted by women. They will witness firsthand the challenges, the triumphs, the setbacks, and the milestones that shape these tales of change.
One of the organizers remarked, “In every nook and cranny of our world, women are not just narrating stories; they’re creating them. ‘The Mosaic of Change’ is our tribute to every woman turning her unique idea into a transformative force.”

Beyond celebrating past and present achievements, “The Mosaic of Change” also signals a future defined by the limitless potential of women’s ideas. By spotlighting these narratives, TEDxWomen hopes to ignite inspiration, urging many more to add their unique tiles to this expansive mosaic.

Marquez makes romantic return to podium in waterlogged Japanese GP

Honda 2Wheelers India becomes the first choice of more than 15 lac customers in OdishaJapan, October 02, 2023: A wet and wild race in Motegi was cut short due to the extreme conditions and fading light, with Marc Marquez taking his 140th career podium and returning the Repsol Honda Team to the rostrum. Mir picked up more points in the 13th.

Overnight rain saw the MotoGP field discover a damp track for Warm Up as they arrived at Mobility Resort Motegi for race day. As the grid formed up for the 24-lap Japanese Grand Prix, the predicted rain began to fall and the MotoGP field shot forward on tenterhooks with everyone starting on slicks. It would not last long as the majority of the field pulled into the pits at the end of the first lap. Marc Marquez showed his undeniable skill in the changing conditions as he immediately put himself into contention with the leading group.

Opting for a cautious approach as the rain began to intensify, Marquez let those ahead judge the conditions as he settled into a comfortable rhythm. With the conditions settled on completely wet, the eight-time World Champion began his attack and quickly made his way into the top five. Passing Bezzecchi on lap 11 to move into third, the #93 kept up an intense pace as he worked to eat into the lead of Bagnaia and Martin.

Conditions would worsen at this point and the red flag was displayed, ending the race. A restart was attempted but the combination of standing water and the waning light meant the result was declared and full points awarded.

Marc Marquez once again climbed onto the podium with third place, his first podium since taking second place at the Australian Grand Prix in 2021. This podium, the 140th of his career and his 101st in the premier class, moves Marc Marquez to fifth overall in terms of podium finishes across all classes. It is the 455th podium for the Repsol Honda Team in the premier class.

Joan Mir was likewise able to show his raw speed in the wet, running nose to tail with his Repsol Honda Team teammate during the middle stages of the eventually truncated race. His progress would be halted as visibility dropped and the #36 lost contact with the leaders. Down in 13th when the red flag came out, Mir was hopeful of a restart in order to recover the ground lost earlier. Although in agreement with the decision to not restart on safety grounds, Mir was left to lament a lost opportunity for another top-ten finish.

After two intense back-to-back races, the Repsol Honda Team will now enjoy a week off before heading to Mandalika for the Indonesian GP.

Marc Marquez (3rd)

“It feels great to return to the podium after so long away, and to do it here in Motegi, at Honda’s home, with so many fans and people from Honda here, it is quite romantic. In the race it was all about understanding the wet tires once we switched over, at the start, it was quite dry so it was important to be careful to not destroy the tire. I stayed calm and when I saw there was more water on the track, I began to attack. I was feeling really good with my pace and I think we could have had an interesting end to the race, but ultimately Race Direction did a really good job and they made the right call at the right time. I want to say thank you to them and of course all of the Repsol Honda Team as well, days like today have many factors at play and my team worked really well to handle everything. This podium is what we have been looking for all year and it’s a nice boost for the last push in 2023.”

Joan Mir (13th)

“I had some visibility problems with my helmet, unfortunately, it’s something I have never had in the past and today was the day. It’s a big shame, I couldn’t see so I was missing my reference points on the track. When I was fighting with Miller I could see a bit, but then the rain came heavier, and it was enough to stop me. I’m really disappointed because I think we showed that there was some good speed there and we could have done something more. Now we have a week off to train and recover a bit before we go racing again.”

HelpAge India submits memorandum to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister SiddaramaiahOctober 2, 2023, Bengaluru: HelpAge India is a leading non-profit humanitarian and development organisation that voices the concerns of elders to help them live a more dignified life. For over 45 years, HelpAge India has been working tirelessly for the cause and care of disadvantaged older people in India. We provide elderly services through various age-care interventions and multiple projects across 24 states, covering 175 districts. We reach out to 1.25 million needy elders through our nationwide programs for their rights and welfare.

On the occasion of the “International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2023, the HelpAge India Bangalore chapter used this opportunity to bring the elder’s issue to the forefront and submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri. Siddaramaiah, at Ravindra Kalakshethra, Bangalore.

The following demands were put on the memorandum:

  •  A universal pension of Rs. 2000 to cover all elderly without income security in their advanced age.
  • The amount should be revised twice a year to account for inflation.
  • The procedures for application and renewal should be made easier so that elders do not face many issues in filling
  • MIS: automatic inclusion and renewal of pensions
  • Mode of disbursement—postal, panchayat office, and bank—should be as per the choice of the beneficiary.
  • Pensions should be seen as compensation for work left, as deferred wages, and not as a dole.

Why the state council for senior citizens?

The State Council for Senior Citizens was constituted via notification WCD/479/PHP/2007 by the Karnataka State Government.

The State Council was headed by the Hon’ble Minister for Women and Child Development, Director, Department of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Empowerment, and also involved representatives from NGOs and senior citizens. The following activities were carried out under this council:

  • Meetings were conducted to review welfare schemes, maintain the welfare of parents and senior citizens, and improve delivery services.
  • Appropriate recommendations for welfare programs for senior citizens were made to the government.
  • Monitoring to ensure the improvement of the functioning of the organization.

It is regrettable that the State Council has not been functioning for the last few years.

Extending health insurance facilities

Increase the age for getting benefits under health insurance to eighty-five years of age.

  • Cover all pre-existing diseases.
  • Universally covers all elders, including the entire amount incurred in expenses under the PMJAY health scheme.

Separate Department for Senior Citizens:

At present, the unit of senior citizen empowerment is attached to the State Directorate for Women and Child Development, but considering the extent and requirements of senior citizens, this attachment seems illogical. Hence, it is requested to provide a separate directorate exclusively for senior citizens. There are few welfare schemes for the elderly in state policy, but many of them have not been implemented yet. Therefore, we would demand a separate ministry or department for senior citizens to strengthen the welfare schemes for the elderly.

Indians appear to be treating themselves with a 52% increase in premium economy searches compared to last year and a 33% increase in searches for 4 and 5 star hotels over the festive travel period.

Travel Through the Generations

India’s aspirational generation who make and break trends–Millennials–have shown the highest propensity to make international travel plans this festive season. About one-third of millennials (37%) plan on taking two or more trips internationally compared to only 16% of Baby Boomers.^

When it comes to travel companions, while most Indians (4 in 5) plan to travel with family over the festive season – and that’s certainly the case for Baby Boomers (93%) – Gen Z travellers want to spend their holiday with friends (59%).

KAYAK has partnered with Mrunal Thakur, an Indian film actor to promote how easy it is to book family travel or even solo travel in the upcoming festive season.

The most searched international destination for flights overall for festive travel is Dubai followed by Bangkok, Bali, and Singapore*. Further, Goa was the most searched domestic destination, followed by Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Srinagar.

Tarun Tahiliani, India Country Manager, KAYAK, said, “This festive season is shaping up to be quite exciting for Indian travellers, with a large majority of those surveyed ready to take that much-awaited trip, or going by the data, taking multiple trips! By providing comprehensive flights, hotel and car hire options, we, at KAYAK, are on a mission to help Indian travellers find the perfect holiday at a great price.”

Food & Travel: The Perfect Match for a Festive Holiday

Unsurprisingly, 72% of Indians look forward to food and culinary experiences as one of the most enjoyable activities while travelling along with shopping and exploring local markets and 45% felt food is worthy of the ‘five-star indulgence’ while selecting a hotel.

Apart from food, basking in their destination’s culture is also important to Indian travellers. Setting off on new expeditions during a festive season so deeply rooted in the country’s vibrant historical and mythological landscape, Gen X (72%) and Baby Boomers (75%) prefer locations with rich cultures, traditions and heritage while travelling, compared to Gen Z (64%). However, younger Indians – Gen Z (58%) and Millennials (56%) – prefer destinations with adventure and activities as compared to Baby Boomers (36%).

If you want to have a great family, you need to create a family of friendship: Mahatriya

MAHATRIA RA

October 02, 2023…….In a modern, mechanical, fast world, all the relationship labels–mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband……….all died. The only label that counts now is Are you a friend or not said, internationally renowned spiritual guru Mahatriya Ra while addressing a gathering of 1500 people immediately after the inauguration of Umang 2.0, South India’s biggest jewellery and lifestyle products expo on Saturday at Hitex in Madhapur in the city.

Mahatriya Ra spoke on a very interesting topic ‘This & That”.

Mahatria is a great storyteller. His powerful one-liner messages are so powerful that they cause a transformation in so many lives. Some of the most popular and inspiring messages of Mahātria are: What is, is; What is not, is not; There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way; The power of a man is in the power of his mind; An hour a day of investment in health, 23 hours of freedom to enjoy life; There are three essential relationships – relationship with self, relationship with others and relationship with Thy; Energy + Intelligent Efforts + Faith in the Energy = Miraculous possibilities and many more like these.

Jain International Trade Organisation–JITO Hyderabad, which is organising a three-day expo Umang 2.0 invited Mahatriya Ra to address them on matters around family and relationships.

Mahatriya Ra said, If you want to have a great family, you need to create a family of friendship. What counts the most in the family today is an understanding nature of the family member. Do you know how relationships are in modern societies of the world? he asked his audience.

Jain International Trade Organisation--JITO Hyderabad

Brother meets sister only Raksha Bandhan. And of the year, they live like strangers. Our relationships are day-oriented –Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Parent’s Day. Our mother ends up eating dinner all alone in the house after her day-long work, while the family members are busy on mobile, laptops. Nobody has time for the mother or parents. A brother who didn’t have time to speak to his brother for the past couple of days but he keeps talking about the India-Canada relationship. We don’t know what is happening in our own marriage, but we keep talking about newly wedded Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha and their marriage.

If you want to reunite a family, ask, is there respect still exists in that relationship? If respect is lost, there is no future in that relationship. You will get back that relationship if respect exists mutually. He gave an example of Lord Shriram and Bharath. Though they were separated, they were united because mutual respect still existed. Take the example of Mahabharata. Pandavas and Kauravas’ relationship soured and there was no respect, so they never got united.

Nowadays, the family means only the wife and husband staying together and no one else. The world has become individualistic.

If you want to nurture good relationships you need to give quality time and keep deep communication. That is the only way to save the relationship, he said.

If families have to stay united, no matter what, a family must have to come together for at least one meal in a year. The next generation will forget what the relations are. Families must take time out for outings, and holidays once in a while. Invest time with the family. Family is a responsibility. Friendship is for pleasure. It is the family that stands by you when you are hospitalised. Friends only send emojis. They send speedy recovery messages on WhatsApp. But, it is the family that sleeps with you in the hospital.

When Lord Mahavir told this world about the message of Love, it was fine. But he was not the first to talk about loving people. But he was the only one who told us to love everything around life.

A true Jain doesn’t shy away from responsibilities. If a Jain shies away from responsibilities, he is not the true Jain. And the one who by birth may not be a Jain, but takes the responsibility, is living the life of Jain, said Mahatriya Ra.

The best way to a holistic life is not to make your evening the same and repetitive. Make every evening different from the rest of the evenings, he told the audience

Stressing upon various points related to the happy family and other related issues he gave several examples, which received thunderous applause from time to time

Speaking about another state of affairs, Mahatriya said, the plantation is a new buzzword now. Plantation doesn’t solve the problem. Growing those plants actually solves it. Even if three plants are planted and if they are nurtured well into trees makes much more difference he said

Gratitude is the way to a happy life. Grateful heart is always happy, he added.

Speaking about how money spoils relationships, he said financial surplus in a good human being will build the world and in a bad person destroys the world. A Rs 100 crore in the hands of Osama Bin Laden would have destroyed another equally tall building. At the same time, the same amount in a good person’s hand would have saved many lives.

His sixty-plus minutes of talk was heard with rapt attention. Towards the end, he received a standing ovation.

Many Jain Community members and JITO Office bearers were among the audience at the talk session.
