Experimental Short Story Collection Summons the Creative Writing Potential of AI

Los Angeles, CA, – In early December, Finnish literary scholar Juha Raipola started a series of textual experiments aimed at exploring the potential of OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot as a tool for creative writing. The result was a collection of very short fiction in which demons and ancient cosmic beings rise to dominate social media and the corporate world.

Raipola’s primary goal was to utilize the AI system as a tool for satirical writing. He aimed to generate texts that would be both amusing and twisted in their portrayal of the contemporary world.

“The objective was to both challenge and exploit the formulaic, generic, and repetitive patterns of the texts produced by the AI system. Without specific and detailed instructions from the user, artificial intelligence systems often produce texts with extremely simplistic storylines and rudimentary narrative techniques that lack all the characteristics of high-quality or engaging literature.”

“Demonic Fragments” is a collection of more than 100 short texts created by AI that are connected through common themes and a loosely structured plot. The texts, which include everyday materials such as plans, instructions, social media monologues, and advertisements, are combined with elements of horror fiction to create a weird, funny, and unsettling effect. The collection was carefully prompted and curated by the author.

According to Raiola, ChatGPT’s creative writing skills are best displayed in a variety of advertising and marketing texts.

“ChatGPT is capable of generating highly convincing sales pitches and marketing communication design documents for a wide range of fictional or real products. As an example, I used  AI to create an occult-themed ‘Midnight Shadows’ beauty product brand, along with clear instructions on how to present its products to the media. Upon my request, the system even developed a complete demon summoning product for the brand, complete with comprehensive user instructions.”

As a literary scholar, Raipola expects the development of ChatGPT and other AI systems to soon lead to an explosion in the number of book publications.

“Online self-publishing services currently allow for the publication of works in a couple of days or less, and services are already starting to fill up with works written and illustrated by AI systems. However, most publications are of very low literary and narrative quality. My book is intended to challenge the notion that AI-written books cannot have literary value.”

Raiola’s book “Demonic Fragments: Horror from the AI Mind” is available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback formats.

“Demonic Fragments” includes, among other things:

• Parodies of social media videos, such as the morning routine of the Lovecraftian entity Cthulhu.

• A series of sensationalist news stories about Cthulhu’s chaotic love relationship with a reality TV star.
• A collection of very short horror stories.
• Weird horror-themed lists such as a how-to guide for demons on collecting human souls.
• A proposal for the reorganization and modernization of Hell.

Set a budget

Plan a budget for yourself before going out for shopping. It would be really helpful if you make rough idea of how much you have to spent on your lehenga, jewellery, and other accessories so that when you go to buy the dress you must inform the shopkeeper beforehand about your budget.

Do not take too much people along with you

Try to keep a limited people with whom you go out for shopping as too much people. Taking too many people with you will initiate different opinions and create more and more confusion about the selection of your dress.

Keep in mind the color choices

Color selection is a very problematic aspect while choosing your wedding dress. Keep 1-2 colors selected in your mind so when you look for your dress you do not face much confusion about color selection. Choosing the right color for yourself will make you look the best on your wedding day.

Know your body type and complexion

Not every person can wear the same design, pattern, or color. Different things suit different people. Being aware about your body type and complexion will make your shopping much easier and you will easily find the perfect fit and color for yourself.

Make a list of designers and marketplace

Before leaving for shopping be truly aware about the places you need to head for your wedding shopping. Find a place where designers and your preference will easily be accessible so you don’t have to go from one market to another.

Don’t pick the very first one

Usually, in excitement the bride-to-be tend the settle for the very first dress that are shown to them but don’t do that, explore a little, see more and more choices and look for every aspect in the dress according to your needs.

Try the lehenga

Make sure that you try your lehenga as it may help to have a clear vision about the dress and how it looks upon you. Trying the lehenga will tell you about the fittings as well as other necessary items needed in it.

Keep in mind your jewellery and footwears

When buying your dress do keep in mind your jewellery and footwears so that you can color coordinate and let everything complement each other. Already purchased jewellery will help you in deciding the perfect neckline for yourself.

MAKO Medical Expands Popular ASPT-Accredited Phlebotomy Program

Nashville, TN, — MAKO Medical Laboratories, a national full-service reference laboratory and national leader in COVID-19 testing, is expanding its accredited American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) training school for phlebotomists by adding additional training dates and options for classes, as well as a full-time class. Currently, the classes are for MAKO Medical employees, but the facility plans to offer the training to that outside of MAKO in early 2023.

“We care deeply about the needs and wants of our team, and we are excited to be able to offer phlebotomy certifications as yet another career growth opportunity within MAKO,” said Josh Arant, Chief Operating Officer, MAKO Medical.

MAKO team members can sign up for the Phlebotomy course through MAKO University (MAKO U), a career enhancement effort established during this rapidly changing time in health care. MAKO will offer this program free to team members across all MAKO locations.

Chad Price, MAKO Medical Founder, and CEO said, “We’re pleased by the success of our phlebotomist training program and are excited to expand the school.”

MAKO U has the backing of ASPT, one of the top two phlebotomy certifiers in the U.S. It will include 14 weeks of class time and hands-on instruction, with the potential for expediting the process, depending on how quickly students progress through hands-on clinical days.

“Without a certification, phlebotomists are hard-pressed to land a job,” said Tiffany Filbeck, MAKO phlebotomy supervisor and lead instructor for MAKO U. “I’m looking forward to pursuing my passion of teaching while making a lasting impact on student’s career trajectories beyond their certification exam.”

In order to pass the program and qualify for the ASPT certification exam, MAKO U students will participate in two four-hour virtual instruction days per week, paired with online assignments. One month into the program, students will begin hands-on training by practicing on manikin arms before moving to the real thing.

Students will need to conduct 25 successful draws before progressing to their clinical rotation where they must complete an additional 75 successful draws before then taking the ASPT exam for final certification. The exam includes a written portion and a practical blood draw simulation.

As MAKO team members graduate from MAKO U and receive their certification, they will be able to return to assist with future classes as instructors. This keeps them involved in the program while also allowing them to stay up-to-date on their skills. As more graduates return to serve as instructors, MAKO hopes to increase teaching capacity enough to open the program up to the public.
