Wondering what percentage of deaths worldwide are caused by cardiovascular disease? Over 18 million lives are lost each year globally, according to the World Heart Federation. The good news is that by adopting a few simple lifestyle modifications, it can be prevented and controlled. On World Heart Day, the experts at NIIMS, answered the basic queries of people and in addition, he shares some tips to keep your heart healthy.

Why is heart health so important?

It’s crucial for overall wellbeing to have a healthy heart. It circulates blood that is nutrient-rich, delivers oxygen, and removes waste and pollutants from your body.

What is a normal heart rate?

Heart rates at rest for adults typically range from 60 to 100 beats per minute.

Generally speaking, a lower resting heart rate indicates increased cardiovascular fitness and better heart function. An active person, for example, might have a resting heart rate closer to 40 beats per minute.

What causes heart disease?

Heart disease is greatly increased by variables such as smoking, high blood pressure, and excessive cholesterol.

Diabetes and other medical disorders and lifestyle decisions can also increase a person’s risk for heart disease, obesity, and overweight.

What are the vital signs of heart disease?

Body temperature: A healthy adult’s body temperature can range between 97.8° F or 36.5° C to 99° F or 37.2° C.

Blood Pressure: BP is not considered a vital sign, but is often measured along with the vital sign. High Blood Pressure, often known as hypertension, raises the risk of a heart attack, heart failure, and stroke.

Respiration Rate/ Breathing Rate: A respiration rate is the number of breaths taken per minute. At rest, an adult’s respiration rate ranges from 12 to 16 breaths per minute.

Pulse Rate: A healthy adult’s pulse rate ranges between 60 and 100 beats per minute. Exercise, illness, injury, and emotions can cause the pulse rate to rise and fall.

5 tips to keep your heart healthy

World Heart Day is observed on September 29 each year to raise public awareness of CVD and promote heart-healthy living. Simple advice from an expert, Dr J.N.Jha, MBBD MD DM cardiologist, Department of general medicine and Associate professor at NIIMS, was provided to help you maintain good heart health.

1. Be mindful of the food you are eating.

“You are what you eat, as is well-known. So, before you pile on the fried snacks and munchies, stop and consider how it will affect your heart and general health”. He advise to include pumpkin and sesame seeds, walnuts, and other omega-3-rich foods in your diet to improve your heart health. He also adds about including broccoli in salads or stir-fries as it is a fantastic heart-healthy dish. Additionally, he says about consuming pomegranate juice, ash gourd juice, and herbs and spices like cinnamon, holy basil, turmeric, ginger, and garlic enhances heart health and takes 100 steps after each meal to help with digestion.

2. Get moving

Sedentary behavior doubles your risk of developing heart disease early in life and invites several other health problems. Get your recommended daily amount of exercise by engaging in any enjoyable workout to maintain the health of your heart. An excellent method to maintain or enhance heart health is through an aerobic or cardiovascular exercise that directly works the heart. Resistance exercise can reduce fat and build lean body mass, which can raise good HDL cholesterol and lower bad LDL cholesterol while improving blood circulation, lowering blood pressure, and resting heart rate.

3. Run a heart test

Every woman should get a yearly physical checkup, especially after age 30. Monitoring internal processes can help prevent health problems or identify them early on before it’s too late. There are several fundamental tests listed by him to determine the state of your heart which include a treadmill test, sometimes referred to as a “stress test,” an echocardiogram, which is essentially a scan of the heart, and an electrocardiogram (ECG). The findings assist in identifying whether a person has any cardiac disease risk factors, such as diabetes, hypertension, or heart blockages.

4. Avoid these

“It is endorsed to desist from ingesting processed foods that are high in sodium, sugar, and empty calories, as well as from drinking tea or coffee on an empty stomach. Consuming junk food frequently hurts one’s heart and general health because it is high in sugar and saturated fats”, says Dr J.N.Jha.He continues, “Smoking, leading a sedentary lifestyle with little to no exercise, taking illicit drugs or consuming alcohol are all detrimental to one’s heart health.

5. Establish heart-healthy routines

Eating a well-balanced meal that includes protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats is beneficial for your health. You can develop a healthy habit by eating seasonal fruits and vegetables and planning your dinner for just before dusk. He advises to include millets like jowar, ragi, samai, and kodo in one’s diet regularly. Make sure you are receiving enough sleep because a lack of it can harm your heart. “Every muscle, counting the heart, ease from exertion by becoming powerful and more conditional.” says Dr J.N.Jha.

We certainly have headwinds in terms of rising interest rates and rising fuel prices, but the good news is that fuel prices appear to be stabilising. We are watching the impact of interest rates, but if you look at the tailwinds, such as rising consumption, the government’s focus on infrastructure, and so on, that leads to a tailwind being more than a headwind, so sentiments are better, and we see growth occurring even this year. Of course, FY 2019 was our peak, and we plunged by about 50% in FY 2021. Over that low base, we grew by 26% last year, and in my opinion, we should be rising in the double digits even this year.”

However, things take a turn when the police chief‘s (Actor Madhoo) daughter (Actor Smruthi Venkat) is also kidnapped, and she appoints special officer Vikram Kumar (Actor Arulnithi) to solve the case. How Subramani’s writings are coming to life and what secrets does Vikram unravel in his investigations, form the rest of the plot.

Commenting on the occasion, Director Arvindh Srinivasan said, “I wanted to bring something new and fresh in terms of concept and screen play to the table, and the result was Dejavu. BharatPe’s POS vertical hits profitability in 2 years of launch

Mumbai, September 29, 2022:  BharatPe, India’s leading fintech company, today announced that it has achieved an important milestone on its road to profitability with BharatSwipe, the company’s POS business turning profitable. Bharat has achieved this milestone 2 years of the launch of the product. The company also shared that this is the fastest-ever launch to the profitability story of any brand in the POS category in the country.

BharatPe had launched BharatSwipe, its disruptive card payment acceptance machine in the second half of 2020. This was India’s first zero rental Swipe machine that witnessed an overwhelming response from its early days. Today, BharatSwipe contributes to over 20% to the overall payments Transaction Processed Value (TPV) of the company annually. New residential realty launches witness 61% of Year-on-Year growth: PropTiger.com report

Mumbai, 29th September 2022: With the festive season in full swing, India’s real estate developers are hopeful about the sector receiving a boost towards recovery, and their wishes are already coming true. New supply registered a YoY growth of 61 percent when compared to Q3 2021 (July – September). The report also stated that the new supply is at par with the 2015 levels for the second consecutive quarter.

According to Real Insight Residential – July-September 2022, a quarterly report on residential market trends released by REA India-owned digital real estate transaction and advisory services platform PropTiger.com, on the back of strong demand, residential sales have continued to show robust growth while registering sales of 83,220 units, a 49% YoY growth between July-September 2022 as compared to 55,910 units sold in the corresponding period last year.

“The real estate industry is bouncing back from the pandemic and subsequent disruptions, and it’s evident from the data trends and insights in our report. Especially with the festive season which has just commenced, we’re experiencing a continuous surge in consumers’ positive sentiments towards property investments. Q3 this year has seen a significant improvement in the demand for housing and this will set the ball rolling for the next quarter as well,” said Vikas Wadhawan, Group CFO, PropTiger.com, Housing.com, and Makaan.com.

Mr. Wadhawan further added, “Despite the slight increase in overall interest rates, the demand for housing hasn’t dipped, thanks to renewed thrust towards home ownership. In fact, we’ve gauged from our report that the demand for residential properties has surpassed the pre-pandemic levels of 2019’s Q3 (July – September). With the festive sentiments and varied discounts offered, developers are sure to further pique consumers’ interest in purchasing the property.”

Mumbai & Pune topping the charts again:

Mumbai and Pune continue to top the charts with respect to traction, contributing to 53% of the total sales in Q3 2022 (July to September). A majority (27%) of the properties sold fell in the INR 45-75 lakh price range.

Attributing the scarcity of ready-to-move-in inventory, close to 19% of the units sold were RTMI properties, while the remaining 81% were under construction or new launches. According to our latest Consumer Sentiment Outlook (July-December 2022), 58% of the potential homebuyers are looking for RTMI properties.

New Launches register double digit growth for second consecutive quarter

PropTiger.com’s Q3 (July to September) analysis for the new home market, shows a total of 1,04,820 units were launched in Q3 of 2022, with the new launches being at par with average quarterly levels of 1,00,000 units in 2015 . Overall the new supply registered a YoY (Q3-2021 vs Q3-2022) growth of 61% compared to the same time last year, and on a QoQ which is Q2-2022 vs Q3-2022 basis, it grew marginally by 3%.

In terms of the price bracket, a majority of the new supply in Q3 2022 was concentrated in the INR 1-3 Cr bracket, taking 32% of the share in the total new property launches, closely followed by INR 45-75 lakh price range, which took 31% of the share.

Property prices register 6% YoY hike in Q3 2022

Weighted average prices for new supply and inventory across top eight cities has appreciated by 3-9% YoY in Q3 2022. The surge in inflation, hike in input costs and premium charged over ready-to-move-in properties continue to put upward pressure on property prices across major cities.

Inventory Overhang declines positively to 32 months

There has been a significant decline in the inventory overhang — the estimated period builders in a particular market are likely to take to sell off their unsold stock at the existing sales velocity — dipping to 32 months during Q3-2022 (July – September) from last year’s 44 months in Q3-2021. This comes on the back of sustained sales momentum as the sector steadily recovers from the pandemic’s impact. Kolkata had the lowest inventory overhang in Q3 2022 (24 months), while Delhi NCR had the highest (62 months).

The overall unsold inventory in Q3 2022 stood at 7.85 lakh units, with nearly 21% of the unsold inventory in the top 8 cities falling in ready-to-move-in category.

Mumbai, India, 29th September 2022:In the fond memory of the Founder Chairman, Shri Prabhu Dayal Agarwal Ji (Shri PD Ji), Transport Corporation of India Ltd. (TCI Group) organizes blood donation camps every year. Shri. PDJI regarded as the ‘Pioneer of the Indian Transport Industry’ contributed to society beyond logistics, in spheres of health, education, women empowerment, etc. One of the key areas was his role in establishing private blood banks in India.

In continuation of the legacy, this year’s blood donation drive was over 6 days starting from 17th September 2022 to 22nd September 2022.  More than 27 locations were covered across India, including locations like Mumbai, Pune, Rajkot, Raipur, Chakan, Hassangarh, Jamshedpur, Patna, Lucknow, Rourkela &Madurai. The drive witnessed the active participation of 800+ employees and external associates, consisting of both men and women.
