Dr. Sanjay Gupta (Vice Chancellor, World University of Design)

Views of Dr. Sanjay Gupta – VC, WUD on UGC’s latest stance at accepting proposal to hire industry experts as faculty members in Higher Educational Institutes

“Running an institute that has creativity at its core, I am extremely elated with the latest draft guidelines laid out by UGC. In the art, architecture & design domain, It is not just a significant development at bringing students to terms with knowledge based on practice and making their learning experiential but is essential in nurturing design aspirants to be industry-ready. At any juncture in our academic lives we all face a wide lapse between theory and what actually exists; which is why the possibility of bringing in experts with enriching experience in a domain as ‘Professors of Practice’ raises scope for chiseling out the best in students.”

He further adds, “At WUD we ensure multiple and frequent workshops so as to bring students to terms with what they know and what they’re expected of in the industry. Any good design education curriculum will need to be augmented by practical knowledge and nitty-gritties that don’t come handy via books and journals. First hand experiences of design practitioners, artists, weavers, craftsmen, and industry professionals ought to make a strong impression in the minds of aspirants as they idolize them in their hearts. Even otherwise, design being a new field of higher education in India, masters and doctoral level education is almost unheard of. The top two design institutions of the country i.e. NID & NIFT were diploma awarding till recently. Meeting UGCs generic faculty norms is near-impossible in this young but emerging field. With this new value intervention made at higher education levels, we reckon that we have some newfound vested powers that can be deployed to raise bars and up the level of our students exponentially. This is a game changer and will give an edge to Indian institutes to prepare their pupils as per global standards.”

We need to expand our economy. We want to make it inclusive and equitable and the government needs to understand the language of innovation in a better way. We have come up with Engineering and R&D policy. Since I am working in convergence with many ministries, I can connect higher education with the industries and bring them closer to each other. Innovation is the way forward and it should become a culture in our society.”

Further he also highlighted Karnataka being the top rank in NITI Aayog’s India Innovation Index, 2022, which determines innovation capacities and ecosystems at the sub-national level. The State has held this position, under the Major States category, in all three editions of the Index so far.

Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan, Past President, CII & Co-Founder, Infosys & Chairman, Axilor Ventures said, “the Summit will present Innovation-led growth strategies that have catalyzed the evolution of Indian Industry, making Indian companies emerge as global leaders in creating the momentum to drive the digital era. India’s innovation landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation in the past few years. The adoption of new innovative technologies has helped India become the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world.”

Further he also mentioned, India’s performance has been consistently improving in fostering innovation, as attested by the ranking in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021, where India moved up two positions since 2020. As a result, many MNCs have shifted their R&D base to India. The vast human capital puts India at a vantage point, while making us dependent on our own ability to ideate, create, network and collaborate with other nations to deliver better results.

Mr Arvind Kumar, Director General, Software Technology Parks of India said “Startups are the key in the innovation ecosystem. India has potential to become a data centre hub for the Asia-Pacific region and we are located strategically where we will provide an enabling environment. Colors Tamil presents Dulquer Salman-starrer Hey Sinamika this Sunday

Colors Tamil presents Dulquer Salman-starrer Hey Sinamika this Sunday

Chennai, August 2022: Colors Tamil, a meaningful entertainment channel, is excited to bring the World Television Premiere of Hey Sinamika, starring Dulquer Salman, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal, this Sunday, 28th August, at 2 PM. The light-hearted romantic comedy revolves around a wife who is tired of her husband’s overbearing affection and tries to find ways to get away from him. Tune in to Colors Tamil to see if she is able to banish her husband or if love finds a way to reconnect the two once again.

Directed by choreographer turned director Brinda, the film also features Nakshatra Nagesh, Actor Yogi Babu and stand-up comic Abhishek Kumar in supporting roles. With melodious and soul-soothing music composed by Govind Vasantha, Hey Sinamika penned by Madhan Karky, will be worth a watch this weekend.

Traversing the life of Mouna (played by Aditi Rao Hydari) who falls head over heels in love with Yazhan (Dulquer Salman), the film focuses on the two years after their marriage, where Mouna is tired of Yazhan’s excessively doting nature. She decides to take up a project in Pondicherry to get away from him for a year. But her efforts fail as Yazhan turns up there as well. Running out of ways to get rid of him, she ends up meeting Mazharvizhi (played by Kajal Aggarwal) and schemes with her to make Yazhan fall in love with the latter, setting up the grounds for a divorce. Is this the end for Mouna and Yazhan? Or does he end up falling for Mazharvizhi?

Commenting on the WTP, director Brinda said, “I am extremely thrilled that my debut film Hey Sinamika is set for a World Television Premiere on Colors Tamil, with whom I have been associated for the longest time. It feels like a homecoming. The title of the film is a tribute to my guru Mani Ratnam’s film Oh Kadhal Kanmani and it sums up the plot perfectly. All of us had tirelessly worked for the film to make it an entertaining watch and I am positive that it will garner equal love and appreciation on the small screens too, like it had in theatres. Families, especially new couples, will relate to the film.”

Building on the same theme, Dulquer Salman commented, “Hey Sinamika is one of the films that will always remain close to my heart since director Brinda chose me to be a part of her debut film. I have played light-hearted characters in my previous projects too, but to play an excessively doting husband without becoming extremely annoying for the audiences was a tough job. I had to strike a balance between being naive while being slightly irritating. I owe this to director Brinda for moulding my character and my co-actors Aditi and Kajal for supporting Yazhan equally. With the World Television Premiere, I am sure that viewers are going to experience loads of fun and sentiments, this weekend.”

Relax on your sofas and get hooked to your television screens while discovering who among Yazhan, Mouna and Mazharvizhi gets to have their happy ending on Sunday, 28th August, at 2PM.

Colors Tamil is available on all leading cable networks and DTH platforms – Sun Direct (CH NO 128), Tata Sky (CHN NO 1515), Airtel (CHN NO 763), Dish TV (CHN NO 1808) and Videocon D2H (CHN NO 553).

Industry research suggests that as per estimates, the global vegan food market will reach US$ 31.4 billion by 2026. In dietary terms, it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.
