Welcoming the students to this profession, Mr. Kharvi started his talk with the evolution of communication. He pointed out, “Communication is as old as civilisation. In Ramayana, there was a character called Bhadro who used to report to Rama about popular feelings and perceptions in his kingdom. Even the great religious teachers, from Gautama Buddha and Sankaracharya to Guru Nanak and Kabir were master communicators”.

He added that “Now new technology is playing a key role – Metaverse will come and take away the lion’s share of the industry. Data-driven storytelling will be the new normal. Professionalism is getting more and more critical. Vernacular will go mainstrem. Fake news is coming up and it’s getting deeper and becoming believable. There is no other profession that rewards creativity and gives so much of a world view, as everyday is different”. He signed off saying that “professionalism is becoming critical. So, raise your standards as we are willing to learn from you”.

Guest of Honour Ms. Aprajita Biala, General Manager - Integrated Strategic Planning, Cheil Worldwide - shares her tips

Opening her speech, Ms Aprajita Biala said, “You are going to enter into perhaps the most thrilling part of your life”. She went on to explain – “If you are in the marketing communications space, life is going to be anything but boring and there will be no dearth of adrenaline. You have to keep pushing your boundaries to make sure that you add value to yourselves. Put your head down and work towards your dreams as each hour is an opportunity. Ultimately opportunities can be in the disguise of difficulty or change. At the end, keep a perspective that is your own. Step ahead and carpe diem.”

HDFC Bank named ‘Best Bank in India’ at Euromoney Awards 2022

  • Receives prestigious recognition for 4th year in a row; 15th year overall

Mumbai, 9th August 2022: HDFC Bank is pleased to announce that it has been adjudged ‘Best Bank in India at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2022. The Bank has been recognised with the coveted honour for the 4th consecutive year.

In its editorial, Euromoney writes, “In a challenging environment, retail and treasury profit fell, but was more than compensated for by a knockout 38.6% growth in the wholesale banking business. And through all of this, non-performing loans – consistently the lowest in the industry through Covid – fell to just 1.17% gross. In the year to March 31, 2022 – a difficult environment for many in financial services – HDFC’s profit after tax rose 14.6% to the equivalent of $4.88 billion.”

A first of its kind in the global financial publishing industry, the awards were introduced in 1992. The awards are based on year-round monitoring of market share and customer-satisfaction data compiled by Euromoney’s industry-leading surveys. This is supplemented by an intensive three-month process of review by Euromoney’s editorial team, culminating in interviews with shortlisted candidates.

In the 30 years of the Euromoney Awards’ existence, the bank – founded in 1995 – is humbled to have been bestowed the prestigious recognition of “Best Bank in India,” for 15 years.

This year, Euromoney received a record number of submissions from banks in our regional and country awards programme that covers more than 50 regional awards and best bank awards in 100 countries.

In its awards issue, Euromoney further writes, “HDFC Bank, led by chief executive Sashidhar Jagdishan, has managed this so consistently over the years by doing the simple things right. It has steered clear of scandal, its risk management division is peerless and it never does anything stupid. Based on this sturdy foundation, it has then found the best things to excel at: the largest cash-management player in the country, for example, and a leader in supply-chain financing, as well as a local bank of choice for multinational corporations operating in India.”

Demand for ‘creativity’ and ‘growth mindset’ soft skills exponentially grows in India

Bangalore, August 9th, 2022 – The world’s #1 job site, Indeed, today announced a research showing that the pandemic and the new hybrid work norms have influenced the skills companies are looking for. A list of the top 10 soft skills required reveals most companies are increasingly looking for workers that are considered “Creative” and have a “Growth mindset” at their jobs.

A “growth mindset” is the skill with the highest rise in demand in the last two years, with a 194% jump between April 2020 to April 2022. This ability is usually defined as believing that a professional can develop his capabilities through dedication and hard work, that learning is always part of the process, and that resilience is critical to achieving results.

The second soft skill with the highest growth is “Creativity”, which increased 72% in the last two years. At work, creativity is the ability to think about a task or a problem in a new or different way or to use imagination to generate new ideas.

While soft skills have always been considered important at the workplace, the pandemic has redefined what it means for businesses to have talent with equal amounts of soft skills as technical skills. Due to the slowdown led by the pandemic, enterprises and startups are at an aggressive growth stage where hiring the right talent is critical. Soft skills provide the differentiation in a large and equally qualified talent pool that gives businesses the edge in innovation and growth.

Saumitra Chand, Career expert, Indeed noted “Amidst the pandemic, businesses realized two imperatives to thrive in a volatile environment. The first is of course the need for digital innovation to stay ahead of the curve. But second and perhaps more important is a talent pool with the right skill sets to lead the changes in a dynamic ecosystem. Skills like a growth mindset, critical thinking, creativity and autonomy have become the key determinants of aggressive organizational growth and success.”

The search for employees with “critical thinking” — the ability to make informed decisions by evaluating several different sources — and “autonomy” — being able to plan and work in the way that is most conducive to their own best performance — also grew by 45% in the last two years, rounding out the top four skills. Interestingly, persuasion (-6%) and public speaking (-12%) saw a degrowth during the same time period, highlighting that these skills were not at the forefront for employers.

Top 10 softskills in table below

S.No Top skills % change in job (April 2020 – April 2022)
1 Growth mindset 194%
2 Creativity 72%
3 Critical thinking 45%
4 Autonomy 45%
5 Resourcefulness 28%
6 Decision making 25%
7 Time management 23%
8 Teamwork 18%
9 Adaptability 17%
10 Problem solving 13%

Soft skills are personality traits and behaviours. Unlike technical or ‘hard’ skills, soft skills are not about the knowledge you possess but the behaviours you display in different situations.

“Because these are often innate personality traits, job seekers already possess several marketable soft skills that might help them get and be successful in a job. Though many are formed with one’s personality, soft skills can also be learned and developed with practice and experience.” Added Mr. Chand

According to Indeed’s platform data, the Indian labour market is witnessing a positive momentum as new job postings in India are seeing a record high number.  New job postings in July 2022 saw over 40.5% growth above the pre-pandemic baseline (February 2020). This showcases the increase in demand for hiring across several industries. As companies continue to hire, soft skills will play a key role in talent acquisition.

Eupheus Learning launches NEP STAR School, an NEP-aligned transformation initiative, in collaboration with AWS

New Delhi, 9th August 2022: Eupheus Learning, among India’s largest school-focused distribution platforms with a reach of over 20,000 schools, today announced a new initiative ‘NEP STAR School’ along with Amazon Web Services (AWS)*, to enable schools to seamlessly implement digital technologies as per the government’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The significance of 21st century skills and overall development of learners and educators has been called out in the NEP 2020, and this vision has been instilled in Eupheus Learning’s operations since its inception in 2017. The home-grown EdTech firm aims to create a 21st century learning environment for 400 schools across more than 110 cities in the pilot stage of the NEP STAR School initiative. All participating schools will receive hands-on support to improve learning outcomes, improve efficacy of school operations via technology, and create benchmarks for other schools in the usage of technology in teaching, learning and adminstration aspects of school management.

This initiative aims at eventually enabling 7,500+ user schools of Eupheus Learning with a unified platform comprising content, Learning Management System (LMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) on a single sign-on. Further, Eupheus is taking a leap in providing an integrated one-point solution, making lives easier for each stakeholder – students, teachers, school management, and parents.

Speaking about the initiative, Sarvesh Srivastava, Founder and Managing Director of Eupheus Learning, said, “We are elated to collaborate with AWS to extend the benefits of cloud computing and related technology solutions to K-12 schools across India, on the back of our proven adoption of AWS services to build a reliable, scalable and secure platform. The NEP STAR School initiative aims at upgradation for schools on multiple levels – learners will benefit from integrated content and educators with teaching aid, technology will enable play-based and experiential content, and automation will help create efficiency around routine tasks like marking attendance of students and assigning homework. Importantly, the initiative will help achieve more positive impact on the learning outcomes through an integrated progress report for students, rather than relying only on assessments and examinations. NEP STAR School will facilitate successful implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) mandate at schools, and help track and improve the overall learning environment. Working with AWS will help schools to gain from the world’s broadest and deepest set of cloud technologies, and industry-leading security and operational expertise.”

He added, “We are committed to delivering a proven subscription experience to our user schools and we look forward to a long-term collaboration with AWS, enabling the maximum number of schools to get the most value for their time and resources.”

Eupheus Learning offers not just one of the largest content offerings for schools, including curricular and supplemental content, but also provides a platform which enhances learning outcomes while automating the school operating system. Powering Eupheus Learning’s platform are a range of cloud services from AWS. The platform’s operating system (OS), learning environment and financial system run on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), which offers scalable compute capacity, while SchoolMitra, which provides schools an easy-to-use web and mobile application leverages Amazon Cognito for authentication, authorization, and user identity management. Amazon CloudFront, a content delivery network (CDN) service built for high performance, security, and developer convenience, powers the content delivery for Eupheus Learning, while Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) provides a scalable, secure and cost-effective service for all the mobile application notifications sent by the platform to its users.

“AWS is committed to enable the digital transformation of education, and we are delighted to collaborate with Eupheus Learning, one of India’s largest school-focused distribution platforms, to enable K-12 schools to support their core mission of delivering quality education. By participating in the NEP STAR School initiative, schools can leverage digital technologies to develop more immersive and engaging learning experiences for their students and teachers, enable smarter decision-making, and run administration operations more effectively and efficiently,” said Sunil PP, Lead—Education, Space, and Nonprofits, Amazon Internet Services Private Limited, AWS India and South Asia.
