While addressing the students at the convocation ceremony, Shri Nitin Gadkari said, “First and foremost I congratulate every student who is here to receive their degree and wish them a bright and rewarding future. It is my honour to be present here amongst such talented young minds and I deeply believe that your role is very crucial in the development and upliftment of India as a nation. I have two philosophies which I feel very smoothly coincide with your stream of vocation; first – knowledge is powerful and second – nothing is a waste. I believe both these virtues when brought to use with the right kind of research, study and execution can bring exponential value. In your profession you can understand how knowledge of the needs of the masses can lead to upcycling of materials and minimise dump that leads to pollution. Zero-day in Atlassian Confluence | Comment by Satnam Narang, Senior Staff Research Engineer, Tenable.

“The flaw was discovered by researchers at Volexity, who uncovered it as part of an incident response investigation over the Memorial Day weekend in the United States. Existing exploitation involved the use of web shells, including the China Chopper web shell. The presence of a web shell provides an attacker with the ability to maintain access to a compromised system even after a vulnerability like this one has been patched. We observed the same following exploitation of the ProxyShell vulnerability last year, where attackers implanted web shells onto vulnerable Microsoft Exchange Server instances.

“A number of Confluence Server versions are potentially vulnerable to this new flaw. So if an organisation is using one of the affected Confluence Server and Data Centre versions and it is publicly accessible over the internet, they are at significant risk. At this time, organisations are advised to restrict access to their Confluence Server and Data Centre instances by placing them behind a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or if feasible, disabling these instances altogether until a patch is available.

“While there are currently no exploitation details or proof-of-concept for this vulnerability, we know from history that attackers relish the opportunity to target Atlassian products like Confluence. We strongly encourage organisations to review these mitigation options until patches are available.” — Satnam Narang, Senior Staff Research Engineer, Tenable

Castify.ai Sees Viewership Rise by 170% Amongst Shifting Trends in the Streaming Wars

Shifting viewer trends see content publishers reimagine how they reach audiences. “This is a breakout moment for small & medium publishers who can reach new audiences across the Smart TV ecosystem,” said Gal Turjeman, CEO of Castify.ai.

Tel Aviv, Israel, June 3, 2022 – Castify.ai, omnichannel content distribution and monetization platform that allows video content owners to create their own branded OTT applications & FAST channels across multiple smart TV and streaming platforms, has seen a year over year rise in 170% in viewership with an increase of 230% in average time spent on customer OTT applications. All this as streaming leaders struggle to maintain subscribers.

As larger companies such as Netflix, Disney+, and others compete to increase subscribers, smaller content publishers are reaching audiences through built-in connected TV (CTV) applications. Castify.ai’s unified platform allows for a single user experience across all television manufacturers from a single dashboard. Being able to embed company branding and select a free advertising-supported TV (FAST) is bringing the industry to a tipping point where consumers can access unique content through built-in apps, instead of relying solely on streaming services.

Gal Turjeman, CEO of Castify.ai
Gal Turjeman, CEO of Castify.ai.

Castify.ai’s data shows that as streaming subscription costs rise, viewers are more likely to explore free content that comes on their connected televisions. “This shift towards exploring new channels via Smart TV applications is occurring across various platforms as viewership trends move away from the crowded streaming landscape,” said Gal Turjeman, CEO of Castify.ai. “This is a breakout moment for smaller publishers who can reach new audiences across the Smart TV ecosystem with a single backend platform.”

One example of how publishers are relying on CTV to reimagine distribution, is with the increasingly popular automotive channel, High Octane. “High Octane caters to a global audience of automotive enthusiasts and we believe that the passion for cars is universal. The AVOD model supports our mission by making the platform accessible to everyone, everywhere with no paywall or barriers to entry,” said Jeff Macaluso, Principal, High Octane Media Partners, LLC. “We chose to partner with Castify.ai because they provide the turnkey, free-to-watch solution we were seeking while also offering a wide breadth of distribution methods, including smart tv, web, mobile apps, and linear (FASTs).”

As large companies pour greater funding into producing new shows to draw subscribers, smaller publishing studios are realizing new opportunities for greater control over viewer experiences and the content they see. Castify.ai predicts that new trends will bring a more level playing field where companies can provide quality content to the viewers that matter most to them.

The Student-Faculty team of World University of Design has bagged the winner’s trophy at TOYCATHON 2021-2022 Physical edition.

TOYCATHON as you may be aware is an All-India inter-ministerial initiative announced last year under the “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ organised by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation cell along with AICTE, and 5 ministries (Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Information and broadcasting). As per the PM, Toycathon-2021 is conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology, ethos and aspirations of today’s generation. The purpose is to make India Atmanirbhar in Toy Manufacturing and Digital game market.

Winner

The scale of the competition can be estimated by the fact that as many as 69,764 males submitted their ideas while 49, 689 females participated. The selected participants collectively submitted 17,749 ideas out of which 2,537 ideas made it to the finale.

While there are 5 members in the team, the final physical round was showcased by a single member of the team – Mehak Singal the innovative Multisensory Interactive Puzzle ‘Tap-O- Mania’ won hearts of the judges in a physical hackathon.

Mehak Singal

The winning toy is called Tap-O-Mania. Tap-O-Mania is a multi sensory board with keyboard-like triangular keys arranged in a grid pattern. When a child clicks on a key, it raises from the surface, providing a sense of touch, vision and hearing. This single function is bound to instill curiosity within the child making them explore multiple options to play and learn simultaneously.

Children can create various objects by clicking the keys in certain patterns and enhance their creative skills by not just understanding geometrical shapes, colours and patterns but also creating shapes of their own. The board could also augment children to have better understanding of their curricular subjects like geometry, maths, factors, etc. Moreover, it could work as a platform to play board games! Functionality is only limited to one’s imagination.

Having won the runners up title in the previous Toycathon and now bringing home the winner’s prize, students of World University of Design are only soaring high. The very undertone of this institute is to improvise upon itself has been well imbibed by the students and they see no one else but themselves as their contenders in this vast ocean full of possibilities.
