World Mission Church of God Brings Forth Life by Conducting Blood Drive Through the Love of the Passover

May, 2022, Kolkata – Earlier this year, a third wave of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) occurred, which exacerbated the blood supply shortage. As the number of blood donors has dropped sharply due to an increase in confirmed cases and vaccinations, all hospitals and blood centers call the current situation a “crisis.” In an effort to fight the shortage, the members of the World Mission Society Church of God (General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol, hereinafter the Church of God) conducted a large-scale blood donation campaign to help ease the blood shortage crisis.

On May 8, the 1058th Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover was held at the Ramgarh Community Hall in Kolkata, West Bengal. About 400 people, including the Church of God members, their families, friends and neighbors, participated in the blood drive. The volunteers followed the infection prevention guidelines such as wearing face masks, checking their body temperatures, and keeping physical distance. The atmosphere was cheerful throughout the event. While waiting for the pre-donation screening tests and the blood draw, the volunteers posed for photos while holding up their handmade signs to inform people about the importance of blood donation.

Sri Aroop Biswas, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Power in the Government of West Bengal, encouraged participation in blood donation by saying, “Through this initiative conducted by the Church, people across different caste, creed and religious faith will be benefited and I’m happy to see how the Church of God is contributing towards the wellbeing of the society.” The state government and the Lions Blood Bank supported the event by paying the cost of renting the Community Hall. This day, 250 people successfully donated blood.

Passover is one of God’s feasts, and the word “Passover” implies that “disasters pass over.” The day before Jesus was sacrificed on the cross, He established the New Covenant Passover with the bread and wine as symbols of His flesh and blood, to give mankind the forgiveness of sins and eternal life as well as the hope for Heaven. In an effort to practice and preach the love of the Passover, the church conducts the Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover. Additionally, the church carries out another significant activity, which is the Worldwide Cleanup Campaign Through the Love of the Passover.

An official from the Church of God said, “Our church members have gathered their minds together to help those whose lives are endangered with the scarcity of blood, in commemoration of the sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ who has granted mankind salvation through the Passover. I hope that our blood donation will help alleviate the blood supply shortage that has worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” We will continue to deliver God’s love to our neighbours and communities through various activities.”

This same day, the Church of God held a blood donation event in Raipur, Chattisgarh, too. Last month, the church conducted a blood drive in Warangal, Telangana. As there is a critical shortage of healthy and safe blood nationwide, this church’s continuous blood donation is of great help. In addition, the church members conducted cleanups in some regions such as Ahmednagar in Maharashtra, Mumbai in Pune, Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, and East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. They also extended a helping hand to farmers in many parts of West Tripura, State of Tripura. They rolled up their sleeves to carry out relief and recovery work after a cyclonic storm in Palghar, Maharashtra, and visited a children’s home in Pune to support their dreams and hopes. Moreover, young adults from the church cheered on healthcare workers by delivering handwritten letters and snacks to them in Pune, Ahmednagar, Palghar, Nashik, and many other parts of the state of Maharashtra.

Tesla accounts for almost 60% of all EVs deliveries by 10 leading car makers in Q1, 2022

Tesla is showing its resilience in the electric vehicle market by sustaining the number of deliveries during a period the general market has been affected by parts shortage and challenging economic conditions. However, the American EV giant is also facing significant competition from traditional manufacturers who are venturing into the EV market as part of holding their market position.

Data acquired and calculated by Finbold indicates that among leading EV manufacturers, Tesla delivered 310,048 vehicles for all models during Q1 2022. With the deliveries, Tesla accounted for 57% of the 539,863 all-electric vehicles delivered by ten leading car makers.

Volkswagen ranked second with 99,100 deliveries, followed by BMW at 35,289 units. China’s Xpeng ranked fourth with 34,561units, while Li Auto closed the top five category at 31,716 units.

Other manufacturers with significant deliveries included Nio (25,768), Rivian (2,553), General Motors (457), Lucid Motors (360) and Nikola (11).

Impact of semiconductor shortage on Tesla 

Although Tesla is dominating the EV market, the company has been forced to adjust its goal to introduce more models, but it remains on course to increase sales. According to the research report:

“Despite the record deliveries, Tesla remains uncertain about the future, with CEO Elon Musk noting that the chip shortage might bar the company from introducing new models in 2022. However, the Q1 results offer a glimpse of the company’s projected to grow annual deliveries by 50%.” 

Tesla will be banking on ramping up production through new factories alongside market demand for its products.

The demand for EVs is being fuelled by factors like soaring fuel prices and the entrance of more manufacturers into the space. However, the high cost of various EV models might reduce the sector’s market growth.

87% of Declined Digital Goods, Crypto, and Fintech Purchases Are Not Fraudulent According to nSure.ai’s Latest Data

The latest Q1 data show that legacy anti-fraud systems are easily triggered, with only 13% of declined transactions as truly fraudulent. This alarming number is concerning, considering that 65% of declined transactions are triggered, by-first time customers.

The Diaper Bank’s period supply program collaborates with the Alliance for Period Supplies to ensure access to menstrual hygiene products. The program distributes supplies through community partners, as well as advocates for the elimination of “period poverty.” To date more than 450,000 period supplies have been distributed in St. Louis, with 10,800 period supplies allocated each week. Last year two-thirds of low-income women in St. Louis could not afford menstrual hygiene products, with 46% of low-income women having to choose between food and period supplies.

The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank collects, stores, and distributes 250,000 free diapers per month to struggling families through a network of 56 community, nonprofit, educational and health care partners serving low-income women and children. To date more than eight million diapers have been distributed in St. Louis including nearly 900,000 diapers during the height of the pandemic.

Founded in 2014, the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank provides diaper access to the region’s low-income families, as well as raises community awareness about the causes and consequences of diaper need. The nonprofit is a member of the National Diaper Bank Network, a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to eliminating diaper need and “period poverty” in America. The St. Louis Alliance for Period Supplies (STL APS) – a program created in 2019 by the diaper bank – ensures access to menstrual hygiene products, which allows full participation in daily life with dignity.
