Startup Story: Things aren’t always rosy | Creative Post by Supertails – a digital pet care platform

We give you petcare advice every single day, but today, we want to take a break from that and show you what goes behind the curtain of building a startup. Long story short, behind the curtain isn’t always rosy. 😬

We take pride in speaking to and caring for our people on a personal level. If you’ve ever interacted with us, you’d know that our Pet Relationship Managers speak to you one on one to find the product or service that’ll help your pet in the best way possible. But earlier this week, our messaging software glitched and everyone got wrongly addressed messages – way to go on personal connect. If only you could’ve been behind the curtain that day. 😅

Cutting to the chase we decided to send an apology, and you guys – why are you the best?! ❤ We got so many replies telling us you understood building businesses are hard, some just sent love our way, and some were downright hilarious! And it showed us why we began Supertails – to build the kindest, most loving community of pet parents.🤗

So this is us, giving you a little peek into what you don’t see – passionate people creating something from the ground up for a growing pet parent community in India. Sometimes we win, sometimes we learn.

If we’ve ever fallen short on our promises, this is our apology to you. If we’ve ever done well, this is our promise that we’ll do better. For you, and for your pets. 🐶🐱

We love you. ❤

Awareness is the Key for Cybersecurity

by Prabhat Sinha – IT Expert & Amazon Bestseller Author of Innovate & Seize Your Success

The digital generation’s present era is surfing the internet heavily, which has opened the doors of opportunities to everyone utilizing digital platforms. Unfortunately, however, the usage of the cyber world has awakened cyber frauds, i.e., the threatening form of crime where fraudsters hack victims’ personal information and data feed online. It is problematic for every individual as cybercrimes are growing with the speed of viruses like COVID and disrupting businesses, governments, and public services. According to the NCRB report, India recorded 50,035 cases of Cybercrime in 2020. It registered an 11.8% increase from last year’s comparison, while it is expected to grow 25% by 2020 till 2025 if the preventive steps are not implemented properly.

What makes a criminal commit cybercrime? This thorny question arises whenever we read or hear about cybercrimes happening across society and the globe. Phishing, spoofing, hacking, cyberstalking, Ransome attacks are the most common cybercrimes. However, the biggest reason is excessive internet usage during lockdown time. There are several other determinants for the drastic surge of cybercrime cases.

· Pandemic situation:

One of the reasons for growing cyberattacks is lockdown imposed due to pandemic. People have to work remotely and upload and download data on servers for shared usage inside their organizations and projects. Online conferences, meetings, financial transactions, etc., have given cyber attackers additional options.

· Lack of skills

Everyone needs to get stable and earn considerable remuneration for their earnings. However, while skilled people are able to secure their jobs, a lot of unskilled people have lost their jobs. Such unskilled and jobless people use Cybercrime as their earning medium. Further such people find Cybercrime and attacks easier than finding legitimate ways to earn money.

· Terrorism:

We hear news of the hack of government websites and social media channels by terrorists. In their campaign to threaten the world, terrorists use Cyberattacks as a powerful weapon. For example, we observed several cyberattacks by terrorists last year where they wiped out historical data of a Colorado-based energy company and disconnected internal controls. Similarly, ransomware attacks on Australian utility firms were made by Russian cyber attackers.

· Social media:

A typical social media addict surfs the internet very frequently. Social media platforms have many apps and programs that look very appealing and attractive. But most such apps are used for stealing your personal data. Nowadays, cyberattackers are analyzing the social media profiles of their targets to get their personal preferences. Hence it is recommended to use social media platforms sensibly and securely.

· Unawareness

Still, regular internet users are unaware of the ways of Cyberattacks, and they are clueless about simple hacks of protection from Cybercrimes. While the government and corporations are making all the efforts to spread awareness for Cybersecurity, regular people are barely following the standard practices. Following cybersecurity guidelines and practices can prevent cyberattacks and the loss of hard-earned colossal money.

· Updates:

We often see essential software and apps prompting us to install the latest updates. Actually, those updates include security patches from the latest known cyberattacks. Therefore, try to install updates and upgrade your system software as soon as possible.

· Password security:

Always use complex passwords composed of alphabets, numbers, and special characters. Don’t save your passwords on browsers and apps. Always use different passwords for important accounts. You can also opt for using biometrics authentication for banking and financial apps.

Use passwords for apps installed on your device so that in case of mobile theft, your apps are not accessible. Nowadays, everyone’s bank is found in their pocket and easily accessible. So, keep changing your passwords at regular intervals. Also, instead of installing different payment and UPI apps, try to use fewer transaction apps on your mobile device, reducing cyberattacks chances.

· Links

Never click unknown links. Many frauds happen by clicking on the link they share on websites, apps, mail, SMS, or call. Most Cyber Crimes happen through fraud apps made for the hacking of personal and transactional details. Your account balance may be wiped out within minutes of clicking such fraudulent links. Therefore, it is recommended to download apps from official websites and recommended app stores only. Avoid downloading apps shared through the direct links.

We can prevent typical cyberattacks by using strong passwords, using VPN while consuming shared Wi-Fi networks like cafés, libraries, hotels, etc. In addition, the computer can be protected by security and antivirus software from trusted companies. Never use unknown and free Antiviruses available without expert recommendations.

The Information Technology Acts 2000 deals with most cybercrimes that contain provisions for protecting electronic data in our country. The IT Act penalizes ‘cyber contraventions’ (Section 43(a)–(h)), which attract civil prosecution, and ‘cyber offenses’ (Sections 63–74), which attract criminal action. The complaints against crime can be registered in the cyber cell or police station.

Potential Project Special Event: Reimagining Leadership in 2022

28-February-2022 For leaders bombarded with an infinite amount of information, faced with innumerable choices, and standing on the edge of burnout themselves, Potential Project is launching a special event – ‘Leadership Reimagined: Making Work More Human’ to be held on March 2, 2022 at 9:30 AM ET / 3:30 PM CET.

Lately, there has been a sense that all the crises in the world are coming to a head. From health emergencies to climate change to social and political divisions, institutions at every level and in every sector have been grappling with the pressures of leadership as well as the consequences of leading.

Human beings are hardwired to want human connection and a sense of belonging, and it is evident that when we work together, we can accomplish remarkable things. It’s surprising, however, that in a society that is becoming increasingly digitally connected, we are more detached than ever. And that is what has resulted in not only a decrease in our productivity and creativity – even if things appear to be different on the surface – but has also led to a second pandemic – a mental health one. Since the last year has brought attention to mental health to the forefront – with governments across the world launching mental health initiatives to combat this post-pandemic crisis, there is a need for workplaces to also reimagine the way we do leadership.

Potential Project is a global leadership development and consultant firm that is bringing organizations across the world to a more human understanding of work. In this special event which will be moderated by Alyson Shontell, Editor-in-Chief, Fortune, the first woman to lead the 92-year-old business magazine, and former employee number six at Business Insider, the panel will feature:

Ellyn Shook, Chief Leadership and Human Resources Officer, Accenture, who will share how she and her global HR team are creating a more human workplace for 674,000 people at Accenture.

Rasmus Hougaard, Founder and CEO, Potential Project, who will share his perspectives on the changing face of leadership, drawing from his new book published by Harvard Business Review Press – Compassionate Leadership: How to Do Hard Things in a Human Way.

Certain factors such as a sedentary lifestyle, obesity, hypertension, stress, smoking, high cholesterol levels, and lack of physical activity can invite heart problems at a younger age. Dr. Brijesh Agrawal, Cardiologist, Zen Multispecialty Hospital, Chembur underscored, “Apart from poor lifestyle choices, Covid can also damage one’s heart. Covid not only attacks the lungs but even the heart too. Many Covid patients are diagnosed with heart problems after recovering from the infection. Inflammation of the heart muscle, that is myocarditis, tends to occur in patients with COVID-19 disease. Covid may induce coronary artery disease (CAD), one of the leading causes of death worldwide, heart failure, stroke because of the inflammation of the blood vessel and hampered blood supply to the heart in some patients causing death. Worrisome signs like chest tightness, breathing difficulties, sudden palpitations, low pumping capacity, an arrhythmia that is abnormal heartbeat are red flags that need to be addressed in the patients after Covid-19 infection.”

Dr Gadkar explained, “One will have to follow good eating habits, exercise daily, maintain an optimum weight, control blood pressure, cholesterol and abnormal blood sugar levels, limit the intake of salty and sugary foods, de-stress by doing yoga and meditation, give up on smoking and alcohol. Even if you are in your 30s, go for an ECG to monitor your heart health especially if you have symptoms related to heart disease”

“Those having a family history of heart attacks should be careful. Covid-patients after recovery should go for regular cardiac checkups and opt for electrocardiogram (ECG), treadmill test, and 2D echocardiography, also known as 2D echo test,” concluded Dr. Agrawal.
