We want good relations with all our neighboring countries of the region, Sher Mohd Stanakzai

In an interview with CNN-News18, Sher Mohd Stanakzai, Deputy Political Office of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and head of negotiation team with America spoke about Taliban’s administrative view towards India.

He said, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, our foreign policy is to have good relation with all our neighboring countries and with the whole world. The American forces were here in Afghanistan for the last 20 years and after that, they are now withdrawing from the country, so we will have friendly relations with America after this and NATO also. I think they should come back and take part in the rehabilitation of Afghanistan. The same goes for India, we want to establish friendly relations before like cultural and economical and also other ties that we had with them. Not only with India, all our neighboring countries including Tajikistan, Iran and Pakistan”.

On being questioned about hostility towards India and the formation of a sanctuary for terror groups which is a threat to India such as Lashkar and Jaish, he said, “What comes up in media is most often wrong, there is no such statement or indication from our side. We want good relations with all our neighboring countries of the region. There was no threat from Afghanistan throughout our history to any of our neighbors including India and it will not happen at all. There is no doubt that there is long political and geographical dispute between India and Pakistan. We hope they do not use Afghanistan in their internal fight, they have a long border, and they can fight among themselves on the border. They should not use Afghanistan for this and we will not let any of the countries use our land for this.”

He confirmed that Taliban will not allow anyone to use the Afghan side against any country in the world.

Speaking about his training in IMA some decades ago, he said, “It was during my young age, I was trained there before the Russians came to Afghanistan. I was under training in IMA and graduated from IMA.”

He also stated that recent attack on Afghan might be by Daish not ISIS as they have accepted and taken responsibility.

When questioned about Hindus and Sikh who are still in Afghanistan, he said, “I think there is no requirement to evacuate them. Afghanistan is their homeland and country so they can live here peacefully and there will be no harm to their lives here. They can live as they were living before and we hope that the Hindus and Sikh who were here in Afghanistan and have migrated in the last 20 years because of that previous regime to India, we hope that we should be coming back to Afghanistan soon.”

According to him, Taliban is hopeful that once the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is announced, all those countries who are related in the region especially the U.S and other countries will support them.

Commenting on development work done by India in Afghanistan, he said “Development done by India is our national asset we will keep it like that and we hope that in future all incomplete work is completed by India. We invite India to come and start again and complete those projects. If somebody is coming and working in the country then we will have to provide them security.”

TEDxHyderabadSalon on Creating Water Positive Cities held

Hyderabad…. TEDxHyderabadSalon on Creating Water Positive Cities held at Kondapur Well, Amphitheatre in the city on Sunday. Salon events are events that keep a TEDx community engaged between regular TEDx events.

This year we chose the theme Creating Water Positive Cities.

Water positive is very important because of its severe scarcity. The planet is in danger of running out of water. Human beings are consuming more natural resources than they are supposed to be doing. This year’s natural resources are already consumed as of July. Becoming water positive means, helping to replenish those dwindling levels of available water.

The venue chosen for the event was the Kondapur well, which was restored by Kalpana, one of the hosts of the Salon. The place which was a dump yard and a constant source of pollution is now a sought-after place to visit. A small amphitheatre was created, to make it suitable for small events. The idea behind choosing the venue was to showcase how a dirty and polluted place can be converted into a beautiful public space and venue.

Three thought leaders Veeramalla Prakash Rao – Chairman of Telangana Water Resources Development Corporation and supervises Department of TS Ground Water and Walamtari; Dr MV Murthy – Hydrogeologists and CEO of ekoknowledge.net and MV Rama Chandrudu – Environmental planner and chemical-free life advocate participated and deliberated on the subject.

As Veeramalla Prakash Rao got up to speak on the water positivity, nature started responding with rain. He continued speaking undeterred and by the time he completed, he drenched totally and won the hearts of the audience for his passion for water positivity. Thus the discussion began on a very positive note and set the right tone for the rest of the session.

With groundwater touching alarmingly low levels, the consumption has to be judicious. The best way to sensitize consumption patterns is to measure the usage of water. Without measurement, there can be no minimization; he highlighted how saving water was akin to having money in the bank. Only when it is measured, we can know how much is being consumed. The aim of this is to sensitize people to use water more sparingly, opined Dr M.V. Murthy.

MV Rama Chandrudu emphasized how critical it was for individuals to take the onus of saving water and inspiring people around them to do as well. He also shared how he has stopped using harsh chemicals at his home thereby making it easier to recycle water.

Ms. Kalpana Ramesh, the Water Expert; Mr. Viiveck Verma, TEDxHyderabad Licensee and Curator, President – SAHE and Ms. Archana Kuncham, TEDxHyderabad Core Team Member, hosted and facilitated the conversations which were then followed by performances.

Kesavi and Praneeth crooned two beautiful songs about water and the environment. The little Kathak dancers, from Kathak Kala Kshetra, the students at middle school enthralled the audience dancing with the grace of beautiful peacocks.

Post the performance held a Panel Discussion where the panelists echoed the need for water positivity around everyone. They comprised Abdul Raheem, Sadar, Masjid e Dilawar Shah Begum; Kailash Agarwal, Trustee, Sree Krishna Goshala; Sridhar Yalamanchili, Ex-President, Gautami Enclave and Linga Reddy, President, Doyens Township. The four panelists assured to become water positivity mascots.

The Salon events are meant to engage and spark discussion on issues of interest to our local community. It is also meant to inspire action and bring about change. Kalpana Ramesh is a living example and attended a similar event in 2016, today, she is a force to reckon with, having several achievements up her sleeve and now being known as Telangana’s Water Woman. She is one of the 7 women achievers who took over PM Modi’s social media accounts on Women’s Day, the honour Prime Minister Modi bestowed on few women. And Kalpana is one of them.

The result, charged up participants vowing to fight for water positive cities.

“It was truly heartwarming to see everyone react with so much positivity, on seeing change and how everyone felt responsible for wanting to bring in small little changes, themselves”, said Kalpana Ramesh

“We want to bring people together, to contribute towards their local communities, as responsible citizens of their city, to spark off more action and change”, said TEDxHyderabad licensee and curator, Viiveck Verma

Skincare Diet for Monsoon

By Rubaina Adhikari, Wellness Influencer

It’s the monsoon season again, but let’s admit it, this time of the year is not as hunky dory as we often picture it to be. While many of us love the nip in the air, a lot of us are not happy with the state in which our skin and hair are left after it pours heavily. As if the monsoon humidity wasn’t enough to wreak havoc on our skin, a weaker digestive system during this time of the year can add to our bodily woes.

As temperatures dip, the body tends to retain a little bit of water, resulting in untimely spots, rashes and pimples. Besides, monsoon also brings with it patchy hydration and weak cell generation which can lead to dullness that rather starts imitating the weather. However, we are here to tell you that even though you are fed up with the dry and dull skin in this rainy weather, all is not lost. And there is no need to seek refuge in costly skincare products as there are plenty of natural ways through which one can infuse life in their skin and diet is one of them.

Importance of a Healthy Diet for Skin During Monsoons

A simple solution here can be tweaking our diet, albeit just a little. We may use many cleansers and exfoliators or follow several skincare tips to combat the impact of humidity on our skin, but until and unless we aren’t eating right, the effects just would not show up. Having said that, here’s a list of tips that you must follow in your monsoon diet. These will not only keep skin problems at bay but will also bring a radiant glow to your skin.

1. Increase Intake of Seasonal Fruits

The monsoon season brings with it a host of seasonal fruits that can do much good to our skin – all thanks to their high antioxidant content. Antioxidants prevent radical activities as excessive free radical activity can leave our skin dull and wrinkly. Include more of Vitamin C in your monsoon diet and consume fruits like pears, jamun, litchis and peaches.

2. Stay Hydrated

Skin cells are primarily made of water, which is why when they are dehydrated our skin looks parched and dry. To ensure that your skin looks vibrant and plump at all times, drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water in a day. For some people, the plain taste of water appears to be a bit boring. So instead, they can keep themselves hydrated by consuming fresh home-made juices, soups and green tea etc.

3. Avoid Oily & Fried Food

Often, it becomes difficult to tame our cravings in this weather, but bingeing on fritters every day with a piping hot cup of tea can leave our skin deprived of its sheen and saggy. Hence, its advisable to monitor your street food intake specially during monsoons, as the outside food is exposed to contamination. It is a good idea to maintain a safe distance from fried and oily food for the health of your skin too.

4. Consume Healthy Seeds

This is a less heard of advice but it can do wonders for your skin health. Do not toss away or discard these seeds as they are a complete treasure trove of nutrients. Sunflower seeds, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds are rich in vitamin E which can help your skin remain young, taut and radiant.

5. Avoid Sugar and Sweetened Items

As bitter as it may sound, it’s essential that you reduce your intake of sugar. The glucose rush that consumption of sugar creates initiates a process known as glycation. It results in the binding of sugar molecules that can make the skin appear dull and quickens the process of aging. Hence, try to cut back on sugar and sweetened items. This will not help keep your skin looking young, fresh and less wrinkly with passing aging, but will also make you feel more energetic and fit.

Summing Up

So, though it’s the season to toss our worries away and enjoy ourselves to the hilt in the sparkling rains, do not forget to pay heed to the health of your skin as it alone will take the entire toll of it. Happy monsoons!
