The World’s largest Interventional Cardiology Conference, ‘TCT India 2024′, begins at Hyderabad!
Chief Guest Dr Sangita Reddy, Jt. Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals; inaugurates the Conference
Hyderabad, 26th July 2024: The World’s largest Interventional Cardiology Conference, ‘TCT India 2024‘ – organized by FACTS Foundation – a non-profit organisation of Cardiologists and Cardiac Surgeons, committed to newer research, innovation, education and training; in association with Apollo Hospitals and Cardiovascular Research Foundation, (CRF) USA; was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr Sangita Reddy, Jt. Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group. Over 1200 delegates comprising of cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons from across India, South Asia and abroad, are attending the three-day Conference, being held till July 28th, 2024, at the HICC, Hyderabad. Distinguished faculty including 100 from India and 30 from abroad will showcase and enlighten the delegates with the latest advances in interventional cardiology.
Dr Sangita Reddy, speaking on the occasion said, let me specially acknowledge each one of you here and say that your presence here is a testimony to your dedication to bringing the best care to the patients and therefore in that journey wish you the very best and I commit on behalf of our organization to do whatever we can to be with you. In the field of interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, all of us are very clear that among the non-communicable diseases, cardiac disease is the number one killer. Despite technology evolving more and more, with cardiologists becoming more and more invasive and cardiothoracic surgeons becoming minimally invasive, heart disease remains the number one killer, contributing upto 28% of all deaths in India. The fact that there are so many methodologies, technologies, treatments, lifestyle behavior modifications, early warning symptoms that could bring down these numbers, so it is important for us to continue to strive and pursue to bring down these numbers and prevent heart disease, reducing and completely eliminating premature cardiac deaths. I would like to congratulate every doctor who has committed himself to share the knowledge he has. I want to acknowledge the fact that through your work you are creating the future of a healthier population. In sports, as the Olympics begin, people celebrate the excellence, the number 1, 2, 3 alone are celebrated, it is the beauty of medicine and science that everyone who cares is celebrated, you are always celebrated in the patients and their family members’ hearts, that’s truly the biggest acknowledgement that the humanity can give you. WHO has stated that the life expectancy has gone up in that critical category of patients who had undergone TCT, by 25% and that’s a positive development because of this procedure.
Dr Martin B. Leon, Director of Cardiovascular Research and Education, Columbia University Medical Center / New York-Presbyterian Hospital; we found TCT more than 35 years ago, we found this meeting for a variety of reasons and the principles of TCT have not changed since the beginning, we believe strongly that we need to provide an educational platform, part of that education is provided through live cases to learn from those experiences, we believe that more than ever before, that hands-on training is critical for operators to have confidence, to develop skills and provide the best care to patients. We believe strongly in the academic mission and argue about the best therapies for our patients. Innovation has been a critical part of TCT. For me the TCT Plus, the India version of TCT is very powerful, because you embraced the original concept of what TCT is.
Dr Juan Granada, President & CEO Cardiovascular Research Foundation New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY; said, TCT is a collaboration going on for more than a decade, to share knowledge and benefit the patient with the latest care.
Dr A. Sreenivas Kumar speaking on the occasion said, this is now the largest Conference of Interventional Cardiologists, with 1200 delegates from India and abroad attending it. Several special techniques to deal with cardiac problems which hitherto needed cardiac surgery can be done today by interventional cardiology, through minor aperture, saving the patient from trauma, morbidity, and mortality. In the past when arteries were totally blocked, surgery was mandatory, now there are special techniques to clear the blocked arteries, several such new techniques will be demonstrated and deliberated in this conference.
The Conference has sessions in various Interventional techniques like Hemodynamics, Intracoronary Imaging, Calcium Management, TAVR and other newer Innovations. There will be focused Live case-based learnings with nine live cases from USA, Germany and Australia and 12 live in box cases from various centres spread across India making it a truly Pan India National Event. Live cases will be followed by live case learning points, interactions and related lectures including interesting topics like Future of Structural Heart Interventions; Role of newer devices and interventions in Heart Failure management; Newer Canadian Classification of Acute MI and its relevance in clinical practice; Lifestyle and medical therapies for hypertension; and more.
