HCG Cancer Centre, Kolkata, Celebrates Survivors’ Strength with Heartfelt ‘Greet & Meet’ Event
Kolkata, 11th July 2025: In a moving tribute to courage and recovery, HCG Cancer Centre, Newtown, Kolkata hosted a special event titled ‘Cancer Survivors’ Greet & Meet’. The event was part of the larger observance of World Cancer Survivors’ Month, a time dedicated to honouring the strength and resilience of those who had fought and overcome cancer. The gathering brought together 50 cancer survivors, members of the medical fraternity, and HCG leadership in a celebration of hope, healing, and community.
The event featured heartfelt interactions between survivors and their doctors, including Dr. Shashank Shekar Das and Dr. Sanchayan Mandal, followed by a Heritage Cab Ride—a distinctive Kolkata experience made greener with eco-friendly CNG vehicles for survivors. The symbolic ride reflected a fresh chapter in each survivor’s journey and served as a hearty nod to the city’s vibrant spirit and tested resilience.
Speaking from a clinical perspective, Dr. Shashank Shekar Das, Consultant Oncologist, & Dr Sanchayan Mandal, Consultant Oncologist, HCG Cancer Centre, Newtown, Kolkata said, “A survivor’s journey doesn’t end when the chemotherapy stops or the scans turn clear. Survivorship involves emotional recovery, vigilance for recurrence, and helping patients reintegrate into life with renewed confidence. We must continue creating safe spaces for survivors to connect, share, and thrive, beyond the diagnosis.”
Mr. Prateek Jain, Regional Business Head – East & AP, HealthCare Global Enterprises, added: “Events such as this remind us that healing goes beyond hospitals and treatment plans. It’s about rebuilding lives, restoring confidence, and walking alongside our patients even after their clinical journey concludes. HCG’s mission extends far beyond cure—it includes care that is continuous, empathetic, and deeply humane.”
Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Chief Operating Officer, HCG Cancer Centre, Newtown, Kolkata, said: “Today was not just about celebrating survival—it was about acknowledging the strength, the emotional resilience, and the sheer willpower of every person in this room. As a cancer care Hospital, we learn from our survivors every single day. Their courage gives deeper meaning to the work we do, and it reaffirms our commitment to patient-centric, compassionate Oncology.”
The day stood as a poignant reminder that overcoming cancer is not just a medical victory, but a personal and emotional one as well. As survivors shared their stories—of fear, strength, setbacks, and triumph—it became clear that survivorship is not the end of a chapter, but the beginning of a new one.
HCG Cancer Centre, known for its focus on integrated Oncology, reaffirmed its role as not just a place of treatment, but as a lifelong partner in the journey of healing.
