Maharashtra, March 10, 2022:  SBI General, one of India’s leading General Insurance companies has extended support to the two villages of Latur for creating water wealth villages and pilot an integrated watershed management project. For this project, SBI General is associated with Dilasa, a Civil Society Organization committed to working towards rural development. The initiative will support people in the Malumbra & Malkonji villages in the Ausa block of Latur district in Maharashtra, impacting over 3500 beneficiaries.

Recognizing that access to water for irrigation, as well as drinking water, was a key challenge faced in the region, SBI General Insurance alongside Dilasa Janvikas Pratishthan conceptualized the watershed management project. The project aimed to increase the groundwater table, thereby, now it enables access to water. The watershed management project comprises of activities that will aid in desiltation of percolation water bodies.

 SBI General follows a well-defined CSR strategy as guiding principle to contribute towards uplifting the livelihood of marginalized segments through different focus areas and projects. And this project is also well aligned to SBI General’s CSR philosophy, as this project will ensure better livelihood for farmers in Latur.
