In a major boost to infrastructure and economic growth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones and inaugurated a series of key development projects worth over ₹13,400 crore in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. These projects span vital sectors including power, transport, industry, railways, defence manufacturing, and digital connectivity — reinforcing the state’s position as a rising economic powerhouse.
Driving Growth Across Sectors
The newly launched initiatives are part of a broader national vision to strengthen regional economies while ensuring inclusive development. Among the key highlights is a massive power transmission project in Kurnool aimed at improving the stability of the electricity grid and integrating renewable energy sources across the southern states.
Significant investments have also been made to bolster industrial infrastructure in the Orvakal and Kopparthy regions, which are expected to attract private sector investment and create over one lakh jobs in the near future. These plug-and-play industrial zones are designed to fast-track manufacturing and provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs and youth.
Focus on Better Connectivity
Recognising that robust connectivity is the backbone of development, PM Modi also launched several key road and railway projects. These include new highway corridors, six-lane expressways, and modernized railway lines designed to reduce travel time, improve logistics, and connect remote areas more efficiently to economic hubs.
A newly approved rail flyover and additional railway lines in the Visakhapatnam region are expected to ease congestion and support smoother transport of both passengers and freight.
Strengthening India’s Defence & Digital Landscape
One of the standout developments is the inauguration of a state-of-the-art night vision manufacturing facility in Krishna district. This defence project will play a vital role in producing advanced electro-optical systems for India’s armed forces, contributing to the country’s self-reliance in defence production under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ mission.
Moreover, PM Modi highlighted a major upcoming initiative in Visakhapatnam, which is being positioned as a digital and artificial intelligence (AI) hub. Backed by partnerships with global tech companies like Google, this ambitious plan includes the development of an AI-focused data centre that is expected to power India’s digital future. Thousands of skilled jobs are likely to be created, with opportunities in AI, cloud computing, and data analytics.
A Vision for Viksit Bharat
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized that these projects are not just about numbers or infrastructure — they represent a long-term vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047. By boosting connectivity, encouraging investment, and building world-class infrastructure, the aim is to ensure every citizen, especially the youth of Andhra Pradesh, has a role in India’s growth story.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to work hand-in-hand with Andhra Pradesh’s aspirations, saying that cities like Kurnool and Visakhapatnam will play a critical role in shaping India’s digital and industrial roadmap.
These developments mark a significant step forward in transforming Andhra Pradesh into a key player in India’s next phase of growth. With the groundwork now laid for a more connected, empowered, and technologically advanced state, the coming years hold strong promise for both local communities and the national economy.
As these projects take shape, the true impact will be measured not just in GDP numbers, but in improved livelihoods, better services, and a more hopeful future for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
