Toyota Kirloskar Motor Secures Record-Breaking Sales Milestone in 2024: 3,26,329 Units Sold

Bangalore, 02nd January 2025: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) marked a significant milestone in 2024 by recording its best-ever calendar year sales, achieving a sale of 3,26,329 units thus reflecting an impressive 40% growth over the 2,33,346 units sold in 2023. This achievement underscores TKM’s unwavering commitment towards delivering high-quality vehicles suited to meet the market’s diverse needs thus leading to a growing market presence.

Of the total sales in 2024, 3,00,159 units were attributed to domestic sales, while 26,232 units came from exports, which also strongly resonates with the company’s commitment towards ‘Make in India’ for not only domestic market but also for exports.

Furthermore, in December 2024, TKM sold 29,529 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 29% compared to the 22,867 units sold in December 2023. The company sold 24,887 units in the domestic market and exported 4642 units.

CMD Commends IREDA’s Vision 2025: Market Innovations and Global Renewable Expansion

Mumbai, 02nd January 2025: On New Year’s Day 2025, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), addressed all employees via video conferencing. Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), Shri Ajay Kumar Sahani, Chief Vigilance Officer, and other senior officials were also present.

Shri Das emphasized IREDA’s untiring commitment to renewable energy financing. He highlighted IREDA’s leadership in driving market innovations, by offering first-to-market support for Green Ammonia, and Pumped Storage Hydropower projects as well as de-centralized generation projects under Solar Rooftop and PM KUSUM.

Highlighting expansion efforts, Shri Das mentioned the provisional registration of IREDA’s wholly owned subsidiary at GIFT City, aimed at promoting Green Hydrogen and renewable energy equipment manufacturing through foreign currency financing. He also shared details about the in-principle approval received to establish a retail subsidiary. This subsidiary will focus on handling retail business under the PM-Suryaghar (Rooftop Solar) and PM-KUSUM schemes, as well as emerging B2C segments in renewable energy, including electric vehicles, energy storage, green technologies, and energy efficiency.

As per provisional Q3 figures, Shri Das underlined IREDA’s stellar performance, surging 129% Y-o-Y to ₹31,087 crore and disbursements up 41% to ₹17,236 crore. The outstanding loan book grew 36%, reaching ₹69,000 crore. Cumulatively, IREDA has sanctioned over ₹2.39 Lakh Crore and disbursed more than ₹1.52 Lakh Crore.

Shri Das also recapped IREDA’s key milestones from the past year, including attaining Navratna status, receiving an international sovereign-equivalent BBB-(Stable) rating from S&P Global, and maintaining domestic AAA ratings. He noted IREDA’s record-setting publication of FY23-24 financial results in just 19 days and hosting India’s earliest AGM on June 24, 2024. Additionally, IREDA has been recognized as one of the Top 5 Wealth Creators in India for the period November 2023 to November 2024, securing the prestigious 2nd position by the leading Business Newspapers. Notably, it is the only public sector enterprise on this top 5 wealth creators list.

VE Commercial Vehicles Achieves 8,324 Unit Sales in December 2024

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (A Volvo Group and Eicher Motors joint venture) recorded sales of 8,324 units in December 2024 as compared to 8,026 units in December 2023, a growth of 3.7%. This includes 8,035 units of Eicher brand and 289 units of Volvo brand.

• Eicher branded trucks & buses have recorded sales of 8,035 units in December 2024 as compared to 7,789 units in December 2023 representing a growth of 3.2%.
• In the domestic CV market, Eicher branded trucks & buses have recorded sales of 7,545 units in December 2024 as compared to 7,468 units in December 2023, representing a growth of 1.0%.
• On the Exports front, Eicher branded trucks & buses recorded sales of 490 units in December 2024 as compared to 321 units in December 2023, representing a growth of 52.6%
• Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses recorded sales of 289 units in December 2024 as compared to 237 units in December 2023, representing a growth of 21.9%.

Air India Launches In-Flight Wi-Fi, A First for Domestic Indian Airlines

Gurugram, 01 January 2025: Air India, India’s leading global airline, today announced it has rolled out Wi-Fi internet connectivity services on board domestic and international flights operated by Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9 and select Airbus A321neo aircraft.

This makes Air India the first to offer in-flight Wi-Fi internet connectivity on flights within India, enabling travellers – flying for leisure or business – to stay connected to the internet during their flights, and to enjoy browsing, accessing social media, catching up on work, or texting friends and family.

“Connectivity is now an integral part of modern travel. For some, it is about the convenience and comfort of real-time sharing, while for others, it is about greater productivity and efficiency. Whatever be one’s purpose, we are confident that our guests will appreciate having the option of connecting to the web and enjoy the new Air India experience on board these aircraft,” said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Air India.

Accessible on Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones with iOS or Android operating systems, the in-flight Wi-Fi will also allow guests to connect multiple devices simultaneously when above 10,000 feet*.

The deployment of Wi-Fi on domestic routes follows an ongoing pilot programme on international services operated by the Airbus A350, select Airbus A321 neo and Boeing B787-9 aircraft serving international destinations including New York, London, Paris and Singapore. As with the domestic offer, Wi-Fi is complimentary for an introductory period. Air India will progressively roll out the service on other aircraft in its fleet over time.
