West Midlands Police Become First Force to Deploy Exterro’s Pioneering Cloud-Based Digital Forensics Platform and Surpass Digital Forensic Science Strategy Goal

Mumbai, May 20, 2022 —Exterro Inc. – the industry’s first provider of Legal GRC software, which unifies e-discovery, digital forensics and data privacy to drive successful, defensible outcomes for in-house legal, IT teams, privacy and law enforcement worldwide, today announced that the West Midlands Police are the first force to deploy its cloud-based digital forensics platform based on the FTK® Central platform housed on Microsoft Azure. This is a pioneering project that has paved the way for a national digital forensics service, enabling cases to be worked on remotely, officers to collaborate and cases to be resolved at speed.

Police forces have been challenged by digital forensics processes that are slow, fractured and disjointed, creating huge backlogs of data which delays the criminal justice process. Digital forensics investigations are currently siloed with police forces seeking to capture and preserve data from multiple devices and operating systems, as well as collate, submit and review evidential data separately and using their own regional Digital Forensics Units (DFUs). The dire need to transform the process was recognised in the recent Digital Forensic Science Strategy and regarded as technically impossible until 2025.

Recognising this need, Exterro has worked with Microsoft to develop a leading-edge cloud-based digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) solution. This sees Exterro’s FTK Central platform housed in Microsoft Azure, enabling the collection, processing and review of extremely large volumes of data at speed, whilst also centralising access and thereby allowing officers and investigators to work collaboratively.

“Exterro’s FTK has massively reduced processing times and improved forensic readiness with processes that previously took days to complete now almost instantaneous. We anticipate that we will see continued improvements over the coming months, including vastly reduced data backlogs, minimised detention times for suspects and expedite cases, resulting in faster speed to justice which will see the innocent released, the guilty convicted, and a sense of closure for victims and their families. This is going to be game changing for our force and all those that follow”, said John Price, Detective Sergeant, West Midlands Police. 

West Midlands Police (WMP), one of the largest forces in the country with 52 police stations and 6,846 officers responsible for 2.93 million civilians are the first force to deploy the solution. This has enabled digital forensic investigators and its officers on the ground to work on evidential data simultaneously without the need to be physically in the Digital Forensics Units (DFU). The secure upload of sensitive forensic data into the cloud marks a huge breakthrough and has proven the viability of the solution, effectively paving the way for the creation of a cohesive national forensics ecosystem, as envisaged by the Digital Forensic Science Strategy.

Exterro’s FTK Central solution allows WMP’s officers to process and validate large amounts of different data quickly, and at scale. It offers processing ten times faster than that of other solutions as well as innovative forensic and legal review workflows delivered via a single collaborative, web-based tool that gives users a real-time view into their assigned cases. As the solution requires minimal training, this has enabled WMP’s front line officers to work with forensic reviewers, examiners, and investigators to collect, process, and review key case-evidence.

Using FTK Central has enabled WMP to benefit from a number of features, including offline language translation support for cross-border investigations, AI-powered Video Recognition and Explicit Image Detection which supports CAID and Project Vic, a comprehensive unified missing/exploited children database. Now, action can be taken sooner to safeguard children. The Explicit Image Detection feature also provides a mental health shield for investigators by guarding against unnecessary exposure to graphic material during forensic review.

Forces are also much better placed to deal with future change, with the ability to access data over a variety of endpoints and help maintain accreditation with the ISO17025 quality standard for their forensic science activities which is now a mandatory requirement.

Hyderabad, 20th May 2022: A panel of dignitaries, during a live discussion on International Day of Families, highlighted the importance of empowering caregivers.

The conversation was conducted between an esteemed set of panelists including Her Excellency Katharina Wieser, Ambassador of Republic of Austria to India; Dr. V.P. Joy, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala; Shri Avinash Lavania, District Collector, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Mr. Sumanta Kar, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India and SOS Mother, Sarla.

Addressing a panel discussion, streamed live on the official Facebook handle of SOS Children’s Villages of India, India’s largest self-implementing childcare NGO, on the topic “Empowering families for a better, brighter, and more resilient future – The Why? And The How?”, Dr. V.P. Joy, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala highlighted that gender sensitisation and decentralisation are very critical to achieve family stability and ensure that families are cohesive.

He added, “We have faced a lot of trauma, as individuals and as a society, during these last two years of the pandemic. However, by collective action, we have been able to mitigate these challenges. In order to empower societies, we need collective action at the ground level, beginning with women empowerment. Women are the core of any family. We are acting towards strengthening the core, helping families lead a sustainable life and ensuring that every child is brought up in a happy, healthy and safe environment.”

Her Excellency Katharina Wieser, Ambassador of Republic of Austria to India, said “Traditionally, a family – or family-like structure -, is seen as an ideal environment for children to grow up in. Over the past decades, the reality of the so-called ‘core family’ of persons living in the same household has changed a bit; for example, it can also be a single mother working and caring for a child. To support families with children, over the decades Austria has developed one of the most generous systems of family support measures. But despite increased participation of fathers in childcare, it is still more mothers who stay at home to care for children. One of the biggest remaining challenges for the future is therefore to make progress on the possibility of combining family care and work life and achieving equality of opportunities. It is important to further empower women so they are able to pursue a professional career and also have a family. This is both often an economic necessity, as well as a question of gender equality.”

IAS Shri Avinash Lavania, District Collector, Government of Madhya Pradesh, commented, “We tend to see the pandemic and its aftereffects as negative, but I believe there are a lot of positive impacts of the pandemic as well. Changes in work models is one significant difference that can be seen today, especially the work-from-home model that seems to have done pretty well; the pandemic has just escalated the momentum of change that was supposed to happen a decade or so ago. Besides this, the need for skilling, upskilling and reskilling has gained tremendous impetus. Instead of mass educational training, it is important to encourage specialisation / skilling. Earlier, it used to take generations and decades to build an empire; now, with the help of technology, which is accessible to everyone, an individual can build a successful business during their lifetime, within a comparatively much lesser span of time.”

He further added, “Empowering the core of the family unit is essential; this core is the caregiver; hence, it is vital to ensure that the caregiver is strong and empowered, at every level.”

Mr. Sumanta Kar, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India, concluded that, “At SOS Children’s Villages of India, we strongly believe that family is the best place for children to grow up; hence, we work to empower a family unit: be it the SOS India family, Family of Origin, Kinship family or Foster family, in order to ensure that children, who have lost parental care or are at the risk of losing parental care are provided care, love, support and security.

BitMEX launches Spot Exchange as it looks to expand product offering for retail users

Mumbai, May 2022: BitMEX, one of the world’s largest crypto trading platforms, has announced the launch of the BitMEX Spot Exchange for retail and institutional traders as the company looks to expand its product offering. The launch comes as the company looks to become a top ten global spot exchange following the success of its derivatives offer.

The launch of the BitMEX Spot Exchange represents a significant step for BitMEX’s strategy to offer cutting edge products to crypto traders in India. The exchange supports seven pairs of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (XBT), Ethereum (ETH), Chainlink (LINK), Uniswap (UNI), Polygon (MATIC), Axie Infinity (AXS) and ApeCoin (APE), all against Tether (USDT).

Users are able to access the spot by placing coin conversion request-for-quotes (RFQs), through Central Limit Order Books and taking advantage of API trading, as well as on the go with BitMEX Lite when Spot is launched in the mobile app in the next few weeks.

It was in response to this increasing demand from the user base and to changing market conditions that BitMEX decided last year to build its own fully integrated spot exchange to complement the suite of products it currently offers. Following the Beyond Derivatives strategy, BitMEX Spot that launched today aims to attract and introduce new retail and institutional clients to the platform and will allow users to grow in sophistication when trading with crypto.

GOCL secures order from Singareni Collierie & Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

Hyderabad, May 20, 2022: GOCL Corporation Limited, a Hinduja Group Company and a leading manufacturer of energetics and commercial explosives in India secured INR 415 crores deal from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). Singareni Collieries is a government-owned-coal mining corporation. Through this deal, GOCL will supply a range of equipment for a span of two years (2022-2024) across its operations. The supplies will include delivery of bulk explosives worth INR 351 crores, LD explosives worth INR 42 crores and accessories worth INR 21 crores approximately. The order resulted in a 40% price hike over the base price and a 5% relaxation in the Powder Factor penalty clause.

GOCL Corp Ltd has also recently received a purchase order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company to supply Canopy Severance Systems (CSS) worth INR 19 crores. This has emerged as the single largest order received by the Special Products Group of GOCL Corp Ltd.
