3 May, Hyderabad In a significant move towards empowering underprivileged families, educating children and combating child labor, Meghana Gorukanti Jupally, Founder and Director of Meru International School and Ramu Rao Jupally, Executive Vice Chairman of My Home Constructions, inaugurated the second Meru Aveksha Day Care Center at the My Home Vipina, Tellapur, on 1 st May, in recognition of Labor Day. This joint initiative between Meru International School, My Home Constructions and COWE aims to provide a fostering and safe environment for the children of construction site workers, ensuring their emotional, intellectual, and physical development, benefiting over 100 children from infancy and 15 years old.
Amid the bustling sounds of construction, the Meru Aveksha Day Care Center serves as a guiding light, welcoming children from diverse backgrounds and learning stages. Hailing from underprivileged parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha, these young minds carry dreams and aspirations with them, despite the challenges they face. Meru Aveksha, equipped with a comprehensive curriculum, engaging activities and a plethora of toys, is more than just a daycare center; it’s a sanctuary where children are encouraged to explore, learn and grow. Hygiene and etiquette training are also key focuses, ensuring that children develop essential life skills alongside academic knowledge. Each child’s journey is unique and the center aims to tailor its approach to define learning outcomes for every individual. From building foundational skills to providing customized instruction, the focus remains steadfast on making quality education inclusive and accessible to all, transcending socio-economic barriers.
Meghana Gorukanti Jupally, Founder and Director of Meru International School and an education advocate herself, emphasized the formidable goal of obtaining an education, noting that many dream of their young children one day overcoming the odds, pursuing college education and escaping a life of casual manual labor. She acknowledged that this aspiration may seem increasingly unrealistic as the relentless mobility of their lives unsettles the education of their children. The Meru Aveksha initiative aims to prevent situations where children are left alone at home while their parents are at work. The day care center supports the emotional, intellectual, and physical development of young children from infants to 12 years of age at various construction sites. Parents can confidently drop their children at the center to perform their duties with full focus and dedication, free from any worry or concern.
Impact of the first Meru Aveksha day care center:
Meru Aveksha’s journey commenced with a humble beginning, supporting around 40 children, approximately 6 months ago. These children are now enrolled in ZPHS, Gandipet, a local government school.
From providing uniforms to securing promising futures, Meru Aveksha facilitated every aspect of their journey; students were assisted in obtaining Aadhaar cards to enroll them in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
Meghana Gorukanti Jupally is deeply involved in numerous initiatives, including tie-ups with government schools, particularly focusing on educational reform. She has ensured that Meru International School serves as a platform for students to develop into critical thinkers and well-rounded individuals with integrations like M- CLAP, Meru Career-Readiness, Leadership and Life Skills, Academic Enrichment Programme, Sustainability programs amongst others. In line with this commitment, she has prioritized enhancing teaching and mentoring
skills through the Meru Teacher Training Institute, providing 100 hours of comprehensive training to ensure the best for the children at Meru Aveksha.
