India, 26th April 2022: Food has the power to bring people together. Whether it’s a nostalgic home-cooked meal or a chef’s special dish at a restaurant, a scrumptious fare on the pavement on a breezy day or a chocolate choux pastry at a small cafe, excellent food never fails to spread joy. News18 Kannada’s Ahara Mela (Food Festival) 2022, held at HMT Grounds, R.T. Nagar, Bengaluru, became one such destination for gastronomes between April 22 and April 24. The place turned into a melting pot of flavours, culture and laughter as people enjoyed different cuisines from all over India under one roof. Eminent personalities such as Shri Byrathi Suresh, MLA-Hebbal Constituency, famed Kannada actor Viraat, Actress Sanjana Anand and Shri Siddappa Kaloji, Editor, News18 Kannada, inaugurated the food festival.
Staying true to their motto, ‘Eat, Shop and Celebrate’, Ahara Mela created a thriving place that also had a flea market and contests running all day long, along with delicious delights. Furthermore, the festival included competitions and contests such as fancy dress, fireless cooking, drawing for kids, cookery contest for ladies, dance, singing, open stage and rangoli for people of all ages. The idea was to entertain as well as let people unwind in the company of their family and friends.
The evening of Day 2 made the audience groove with the fantabulous performance of the Beat Guru’s band. On Day 3 a special musical homage to Dr. Rajkumar on the evening of April 24 drew the curtains to Ahara Mela. Some of his all-time hit songs were performed to enthrall the audience present. News18 Kannada Ahara Mela was presented by Sathpushti Multi Grain Millet Health Mix and Powered by AB Properties.
Talking about Ahara Mela, Siddappa Kaloji, The Editor at News18 Kannada said, “We are delighted to have been able to organise Ahara Mela 2022. The idea was to create a destination for families and friends buzzing with entertainment, laughter and lots of positivity. What can make people happy more than good food? Keeping that as the focus, we also decided to create a shopper’s delight and different fun contests for all ages. This much-required socialization was something that everyone was craving. The footfall we witnessed was overwhelming. People were having a good time, enjoying hearty laughs with their near and dear ones, eating, shopping, taking part in contests and winning too. HMT Grounds probably never looked this lively before. We are thankful to everyone for their love, support and participation.”
