The facility will provide expert advice and treatment for GI cancers (including cancers of the pancreas, stomach, colon, rectum, anus, biliary system and small intestine).

The OPD services were launched by Dr Vivek Mangla (Associate Director & Head – GI & HPB Oncosurgery, Max Institute of Cancer Care, Vaishali) and Dr Subhashish Das (Associate Consultant – G.I. & HPB Oncosurgery, Max Institute of Cancer Care, Vaishali. Dr Vivek Mangla is one of the leading GI Onco-surgeons in Delhi-NCR. He is experienced in latest techniques like Complex Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal surgery, VATS Esophagectomy, and has also published papers in various indexed journals. Dr Das will be visiting the OPD on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month for consultation.

At the launch, Dr Subhashish Das said, “Gastrointestinal cancers impact the GI tract and the digestive system including Esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, etc. These cancers can origin from any organ in the abdomen as ulcers or masses and can metastasize to the other parts in no time if go unnoticed. A timely diagnosis increases the chances of a better treatment and prolonged survival of the patient. Delayed treatment impacts the outcome of the treatment and may also have adverse consequences on the quality of life. The rise in cases also show the low level of awareness due to which early detection isn’t possible. Through the launch of this OPD service, people from Bareilly will get access to the best-in-class services and we will raise awareness about these diseases.”

Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Senior Vice President – Operations, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Vaishali said, “We, at Max Vaishali, strive to equip the masses with knowledge by spreading awareness about the importance of early detection. We strive to raise awareness about stomach and small intestine issues such as IBD and GI cancer and provide a holistic and supportive environment for such patients. Such disease impacts a person physically as well as their mental and emotional psyche. Therefore, we firmly believe that the masses need to be aware about the symptoms and ensure regular check-ups for early detection. Delayed diagnosis leads to prolonged treatment which often gets complicated. With this new OPD in Bareilly we hope we can benefit a lot of people with such conditions for whom travel to other cities was an impediment in the way of their treatment
