MasterChef Shipra Khanna Applauds Kids’ Efforts in Raising Nutrition Awareness in the Country
New Delhi, September 2023: It was an exciting day filled with fun and frolic, while also inculcating healthy behavior and right eating practises in kids, pan India. The 4th Edition of Bharat Poshan Premier Quiz, hosted by IHW Council as part of Bharat Nutrition Month, witnessed thrilling action and a last-minute adrenaline rush before Protein Kings walked away with the trophy announcing them the winners for the day.
The Grand Finale was held virtually on 14th September and the unique and fascinating event, which was supported By Artist for Her, was aired live on the IHW Council’s social media pages. 60 kids from more than 50 schools, from major Indian cities, were selected for the final round. The final round had 6 teams with 10 members each, the teams were innovatively named Protein Kings, Anemia Fighters, DC Champions, Calcium Warriors, Immunity Boosters, and Health Crusaders.
To motivate and inspire the kids, the Mission Ambassador for the initiative, MasterChef Shipra Khanna was also present at the occasion and congratulated the kids for their efforts to create relevant awareness around good food and a balanced diet. She further added, “It is an inspiring moment to see kids all excited and geared up for such a significant cause, I am hopeful that these children carry forward the legacy of healthy living and eating, which is the bedrock of positive and happy minds and healthy bodies.”
This year saw the 4th edition of Bharat Nutrition Month which is organised by the IHW Council, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Rashtriya Poshan Maah, to create awareness of healthy lifestyles and good food. By utilizing various digital platforms, the Council, through the endeavour creates consciousness about nutrition and healthy eating habits for holistic and all-around development. As 2023 has been declared as the International Year of Millets, millets formed an important part of the discussion in the talk shows and sessions that were conducted under the aegis of 4th Bharat Nutrition Month.
Talking about the initiative, Dr. Hema Divakar- Medical Director- of Divakars Specialty Hospital; Chair-Well Women Healthcare Committee-FIGO and CEO & Chairman- ARTIST for He said, “It is heartening to see the journey of a mere thought turning into a mass movement. I wish the kids act as positive change makers and carry forward the learnings in their strive towards a healthier world.”
The gusto of the kids was quite evident during the quiz and all the teams were seen jostling for the coveted title. The knowledge of the kids was tested around important themes like a nutritious diet, the role of vitamins and minerals in the body, and other important requirements for the holistic development of the human body and mind. The last round of the quiz also witnessed questions on Millets, to commemorate 2023 being observed as the International Year of Millets.
Discussing the importance of nutrition, Mr. Kamal Narayan, CEO, of the IHW Council said, “With our country bearing the brunt of dual malnutrition, Bharat Nutrition Month promotes nutrition education to counter unhealthy eating practises that result in overfed but malnourished children. We are hopeful that our initiative, which echoes the government’s efforts on nutrition and holistic development, will result in a healthier and more nourished nation.”
