Renowned Dental Surgeon Dr. M. S. Gowd, conferred the ‘Medical Excellence Award -2025’ by Indian Redcross Society
Hyderabad, July 07th, 2025: In a momentous recognition of over five decades of dedicated service, globally acclaimed Dental Surgeon Prof. Dr. M.S. Gowd was conferred the prestigious ‘Medical Excellence Award – 2025’ by the Indian Red Cross Society. The award was presented by His Excellency Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana, at a glittering ceremony held at Samskruti Raj Bhavan Community Hall, Somajiguda.
In his address, Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma praised Dr. Gowd as a “Doctor of Excellence and Selflessness,” highlighting his transformational impact on dental care and his role as an inspiring figure in the medical community.
The event was presided over by Smt. Harichandana Dasari, IAS, Collector of Hyderabad and President of IRCS Hyderabad. Sri M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government and Chairman, IRCS Hyderabad, graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. Esteemed dignitaries including Prof. Sri Ramulu, General Secretary & CEO, IRCS-Telangana; Dr. O.S. Reddy, State Treasurer, IRCS-TG; and Dr. P. Vijaya Chander Reddy, Dist. Chairman & Former National MC Member, IRCS-Warangal, were present as Special Invitees.
A trailblazer since 1967, Dr. Gowd pioneered Cosmetic Dentistry in 1984, introduced dental lasers in 1990, implants in 1998 and clear aligners in 2015, revolutionizing dental practices in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He was the first Dental Surgeon to bring these technologies to the region.
Among his many laurels, Dr. Gowd served as Honorary Dental Surgeon to the Governors of Telangana and A.P., Past President of the Indian Prosthodontic Society, and former Principal of Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad. In 2013, he earned global recognition as the only Indian Doctor named among the Top 100 Health Professionals of the World by the International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, UK.
A prolific author and oral health evangelist, Dr. Gowd has published eight books in five languages, demystifying dental care for the public. His first book in Telugu, Mee Chirunavunu Saridhidukondi (1997), was a pathbreaking work that made dental awareness accessible to common people. He followed this with editions in Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, and English, further bridging the gap between clinical expertise and public understanding.
