OPPO and Hasselblad Extend Strategic Partnership, Co-developing the Next-Generation Imaging System

Sweden/india chennai: July 21, 2025:  Global technology brand OPPO today reaffirmed its deep commitment to mobile imaging by announcing the continuation of its strategic partnership with legendary camera manufacturer Hasselblad. This announcement, made at a special event in Gothenburg, Sweden, follows four years of deep technical collaboration on OPPO’s flagship Find Series. The two brands are currently co-developing their next-generation mobile imaging system, aiming to set a new benchmark for the quality of mobile imaging.

“The partnership with Hasselblad is built on a shared passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering the ultimate imaging experience,” said Pete Lau, Chief Product Officer at OPPO. “Over the past four years, we have brought the truly professional, legendary camera experience of Hasselblad to OPPO’s global users. With the extension of our collaboration, we will push the boundaries of mobile imaging even further.”

Four Years of Deep Technical Co-development

The partnership is built on a foundation of deep, collaborative engineering. Over the past four years, with each new Find series smartphone, OPPO and Hasselblad R&D teams have worked in synergy. This fusion of expertise resulted in a suite of powerful imaging tools that bring the legendary Hasselblad experience to a mobile device.

Key innovations include the iconic Hasselblad Natural Color Solution, re-engineered for mobile; Hasselblad Portrait Mode, which allows users to capture professional portraits with a bokeh effect recreated to match classic Hasselblad lenses; and professional Master Mode, specifically designed to match the color character of Hasselblad X2D. The collaboration also brought creative expressions like Hasselblad XPAN Mode, which recreates the classic 65:24 wide aspect ratio of the legendary camera.

The Next-Gen Mobile Imaging System: A New Benchmark for Quality

Looking ahead, both companies expressed their excitement to continue the journey. By integrating Hasselblad’s classic aesthetic with OPPO’s advanced mobile imaging, the partnership will continue to provide users with a distinctive visual signature and exceptional quality, empowering more creators worldwide to effortlessly capture their own masterpieces.

OPPO and Hasselblad are currently co-developing a next-generation mobile imaging system, which is set to establish a new standard for quality and experience in mobile imaging. More details on the future system will be revealed later this year.

OPPO’s Journey in Mobile Imaging

At the event, OPPO shared its 17-year journey of innovation in mobile imaging. Key milestones highlighted include the introduction of the world’s first stacked CMOS sensor in OPPO Find 5 in 2012, pixel binning with OPPO R9 in 2016, and the debut of the first periscope telephoto camera in 2017. Starting with Find X6 Pro, OPPO has continuously elevated imaging quality with each new generation of its Find X camera flagships by innovating across Hardware, Software, and Aesthetics.

This philosophy is exemplified in the latest flagship, Find X8 Ultra, the “Ultimate Camera Phone.” The device showcases breakthroughs like its advanced Penta Camera System with an industry-first True Chroma Camera, and the revolutionary AI Bokeh Engine for precise, hair-strand level cutouts and natural-looking portraits. The new Master Mode is designed to unlock the maximum potential of image quality with ultra-clear 50MP JPEG Max and 16-bit 50MP RAW Max formats. These features demonstrate OPPO’s commitment to pushing the limits in all aspects of mobile photography.
