Karan Johar Shares Emotional Moment Over Criticism of His Parenting Journey
Award winning journalist Barkha Dutt was joined by celebrated director-producer Karan Johar at the UK inaugural edition of the women centric festival – We The Women 2025 at the Anil Agarwal Riverside Studios, London.
Speaking about being constantly accused of Nepotism, Karan said, “A word got launched on my show, the stunning word called – Nepotism. There are so many born to privilege and I do feel that we have the first mover advantage, we cannot take it away. We must admit it but always also know that you cannot stick along if you don’t have what it takes.”
Recalling the nastiest troll he came across, he commented, “Do you realise you have denied your children a mother?” – that broke my heart. That made me question being a single parent. When my kids asked me where they come from – I said you come from Dada’s heart. I believe very strongly that I have enough love in me for both of them, but that comment made me second guess that decision and made me wonder if I did the right thing. One morning I just broke down, went into their room and looked at them and asked them “are you happy?”- they said – “we are very happy because you are our dada”.
