Bengaluru 24 March 2023: Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) today announced IPA Neerathon, a Water Awareness Festival – Run for Water conceived based on the Governments of India’s ‘Water Vision @ 2047’ to inculcate the idea of public participation towards water conservation. IPA Neerathon 2023 will be flagged off from St Joseph’s Indian High School, Vittal Mallya Road on 09th April 2023. The aim of the run is to promote awareness that access to clean water leads to better health, a stronger community, increase jobs and help in better education levels. The idea is to spread awareness among the general public to influence behaviour change that promotes water conservation.
Over a thousand runners are expected to participate in IPA Neerathon 2023, including the entire building fraternity including architects, builders, and consultants. IPA has signed up with the cream of runners to be brand ambassadors for the event. They include Ruby from Runners 360, Bharani from B-Fit, Shangamitra – PSN Runners, Shweta Maurya – Mrs Worldwide Beauty pageant., Simta Sharma – FastandUp Ambassador & Pacemakers, Praveen Shetty – Odu Running club, Lovena Balani – Fitness Model, and Balasubramaniam – Cisco runners. Each one of them has accomplished big heights in the field of running and have been a great motivator for others to be fit and lead a healthy lifestyle. Running community coaches & heads like Kothandapani from PaceMakers, Pramod Deshpande from Jayanagar Jaguars and other leads from various running groups have already confirmed participation.
Speaking about IPA Neerathon 2023, B K Prasad, Chair, IPA Bengaluru Chapter, said, “There is an urgent need to act now to conserve freshwater and reuse treated water. If we consider one drop per second of water being wasted would lead to a wastage of 130 litres of water from a single tap, while a 2mm stream of leaking water per second would amount to a wastage of 29520 litres from a single tap, every month. It is therefore highly important to create awareness on behavioural changes that influence the way people look at water conservation. Through IPA Neerathon 2023, we aim to create as much awareness as possible to enable people to take small individual steps that would greatly help our future generations.”
IPA Neerathon will have three categories, including 10 km, 5 KM, and 3 km run, and will have 30 cash prizes amounting to Rs. 1.76 lakhs. While the 10k and 5k runs will be competitive categories, the 3k marathon will be a fun run. All finishers will be awarded medals of honour and participation certificates.
