Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauds Digi Yatra at the 2nd Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation
New Delhi, September 14, 2024: Addressing the 2nd Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded Digi Yatra’s innovative initiatives and constant support in transforming India’s aviation landscape.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said, “The Digi Yatra initiative is a new and innovative feature of India’s aviation industry. It is a digital solution for smooth and seamless air travel. Using Facial Recognition Technology, Digi Yatra relieves passengers from the hassles of multiple checkpoints at airports, thereby saving their time. Digi Yatra is not only efficient and convenient, but we surely see it as the future of travel.”
Digi Yatra is an industry-led initiative backed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and operated by the Digi Yatra Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation. It is a cutting-edge Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) based ecosystem adhering to the principles of Privacy by Design, ensuring that all biometric and personal information remains safe and secure. From its inception in 2022, Digi Yatra has grown significantly, touching 5 million registered users mark by August 2024 and operational at 24 locations pan-India. Today, passengers can move past various airport checkpoints in just 5 seconds using their facial biometrics as a single token.
