Ground Up Technology Welcomes Innovation with AI Centre of Excellence at GMIT Conference
Kolkata, March 24, 2025: Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT), a reputed institution under JIS Group of Colleges, marked a significant milestone in its commitment to technological advancement and global career opportunities for its students with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ground Up Technology Ltd., a Manchester-based technology firm. The MoU was formalised during GMIT’s 1st International Conference, Smart Technology for Emerging Problems (STEP 2K25), held at the institute’s campus. The MoU signing ceremony took place in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Andre Bourlat, Head of Data Factory at Club Med France; Mr Bodhisattva Banerjee, Vice Chairman of GMIT; Dr. Narendranath Jana, Principal of GMIT, and senior faculty members.
Mr. Mark Dale, CEO & Founder of Ground Up Technology Ltd., visited India as part of his initiative to establish a cutting-edge AI Center of Excellence in Kolkata, in collaboration with Inceptial, a Kolkata based IT Company.
In this occasion, Mr Mark Dale, CEO & Founder of Ground Up Technology Ltd said, “We are giving live product development opportunities to students in GMIT who can showcase these as part of their final year projects. Additionally, I would love some of the students of GMIT to be part of our Centre of Excellence that we are opening in Sector V Kolkata. We expect our delivery centre in Kolkata will create a lot of job opportunities in the AI space”.
Elaborating on this collaboration, Mr. Bodhisattva Banerjee, Vice Chairman of GMIT, said, “This a momentous occasion where the MoU will give an opportunity to our students to develop their projects as discussed by Mr Mark Dale of Ground Up Technology which in turn can help them in placements. Our students have been undergoing specialised training in AI for the last 2-3 years, ensuring they are not missing out on the AI wave that is currently reshaping India. This extensive preparation aligns seamlessly with GMIT’s commitment to equipping its students with the necessary knowledge and expertise as AI Specialists to thrive in the evolving job market.”
