Goa Celebrates 75 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with Special Festivities

Panaji, January 27, 2025: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Government of Goa commemorated the 75th anniversary of the declaration of ‘Vande Mataram’ as the National Song with a unique and historic celebration. Led by the Chief Minister, students and teaching staff of all educational institutions in the state sang the national anthem together, at the same time. This occasion also coincides with the 150th birth anniversary of the song composed by the revered Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, marking a significant milestone in India’s historical heritage.

Under the guiding vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this initiative reflects the perfect harmony of development (Vikas) and heritage (Virasat). Vande Mataram is not just a song but a symbol of India’s spirit and resilience, inspiring every generation to contribute to the nation’s progress while preserving its cultural roots.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, Goa achieved a historic feat: for the first time, the entire song of Vande Mataram was sung simultaneously in all schools and colleges across the state on a single day at the same time. Organized by the Goa branch of Kanyakumari Vivekananda Kendra, the synchronized rendition of Vande Mataram across Goa was a powerful tribute to the song that stirred the freedom movement and united people in the struggle for independence

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant addressed educational institutions on this occasion, emphasizing the significance of Vande Mataram in India’s freedom movement and its relevance to nation-building today. He applauded the thousands of students, teachers, and staff participating in the celebration, showcasing Goa’s dedication to fostering unity, patriotism, and cultural pride.

This initiative was in sync with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to equip the younger generation with a deep understanding of their heritage and a sense of responsibility, ultimately guiding India towards progress, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future.
