Aster DM Healthcare successfully commissions 8.5 MW Solar Park in Kasargod, Kerala
Bangalore, August 12, 2025: Aster DM Healthcare, one of India’s largest healthcare providers, successfully commissioned an 8.5 MW solar park in Kasargod, Kerala. Spread over 27.2 acres of land, the milestone project reaffirms Aster’s commitment towards sustainability and promotion of renewable energy usage.
The project was developed and commissioned along with U-Solar Clean Energy Solutions, a solar energy developer and EPC company. The facility, executed in 18 months, was designed as a single-phase development and employs advanced mono PERC technology. It is expected to generate approximately 14.03 million units (kWh) of clean energy annually and is projected to offset nearly 11,590 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year, significantly reducing the environmental impact of Aster’s operations.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare, said, “The successful commissioning of Aster’s large-scale solar park marks a significant milestone in our journey towards sustainable healthcare. As one of the country’s leading healthcare providers, Aster recognises the urgent need to reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining operational excellence. This solar park reflects our commitment of integrating clean energy into our infrastructure, ensuring energy security, long-term cost efficiency, and a reduced carbon impact. It is a step forward in aligning our values with global sustainability goals and setting a benchmark for green practices in the healthcare sector.”
Aster DM Healthcare has invested Rs. 11.89 crores into the project, and it is projected to benefit the group by 4 crores annually. Currently, the 8.5 MW solar park caters to the requirements of Aster’s Calicut and Kannur units.
Mr. K. R. Harinarayan, CEO of U-Solar, said, “The successful commissioning of the 8.5 MW group captive solar project for Aster DM Healthcare marks a major step in advancing clean energy in the healthcare sector. It supports our vision for a sustainable future while helping Aster DM reduce its carbon footprint and enhance energy resilience. We’re especially proud to have delivered Kerala’s first group captive solar project – setting a strong precedent for many more to follow and leading the way in the state’s clean energy journey.”
The group plans to replicate this project across its other hospital locations, with upcoming projects in its Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra clusters amounting to approximately 36 MW, including the current project. Through these initiatives, Aster aims to build a more resilient and energy-efficient healthcare infrastructure that benefits both patients and the planet.
