New Delhi, February 2023: From Agriculture to education to climate change, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can work wonders in all spheres of life, and India has the potential to take the lead in this field. Prof. Suresh Prabhu, Founding Chancellor of Rishihood University, Guest Professor of the London School of Economics and former Union Minister said this while addressing the 17th India Digital Summit (IDS 2023), being organised here by the Internet and Mobile Association of India, in association with Google and MessageBird.
In this connection, Prof. Prabhu emphasised the need to align education with technology. The ages-old curriculum must change and modern curriculum must be aligned with reality, he argued. He pointed out how education could help in developing AI.
Speaking on the broad benefits of AI, Prof. Prabhu said, “We have applications for AI everywhere—for example, agriculture. If we use AI, we can know where to grow a crop, and decide on how and when to use water. AI may be used to add value to the soil. It can set the entire value chain.”
“AI can be used in natural resource management. It can have a big positive effect on climate change,” he added.
India, with a talent pool of ‘incredible intelligence’, had great potential for the use of technology, Prof. Prabhu felt. But at the same time, he stressed the need for the ethical use of technology, ‘so that no monsters are created in the name of technology’.
IDS is India’s largest and oldest digital conference, being held on February 20 and 21, 2023 at The LaLit, New Delhi. IDS 2023 brings together over 150 speakers, including policymakers, regulators, industry captains, and subject stalwarts in more than 60 sessions, with a representation from over 500 digital brands, and the participation of over 3000 delegates. The summit will end with the announcement of the winners of the prestigious India Digital Awards (13th edition) in 57 categories.
