Maav Industries Scales Up Plastic Recycling, Processing Over 225 Tons Monthly
Bengaluru, 12 August 2025: Maav Industries Ltd., a Mangalore-based leader in sustainable manufacturing, has expanded its core recycling operations to strengthen its circular economy strategy. The company now recycles over 225 tons of plastic every month and is actively scaling capacity to process more than 300 tons monthly by 2026 — a significant contribution in a country that generates nearly 26,000 tonnes of plastic waste daily but recycles only a fraction of it.
This scale-up includes the introduction of new plastic-based product lines manufactured entirely from recycled materials, increasing the volume of waste repurposed within the company’s production cycle. At its Yeyyadi and Baikampady facilities, Maav has upgraded recycling systems with advanced sorting, washing, shredding, and extrusion technology to improve efficiency, reduce carbon footprint, and extend the life cycle of materials.
To ensure a steady supply of post-use plastic, the company is rolling out decentralized collection hubs across Karnataka. These hubs will source directly from households, institutions, and local businesses, encouraging greater community participation in waste management while improving the speed and efficiency of collection.
In line with regulatory compliance, Maav works with authorized plastic waste aggregators and recyclers to ensure environmentally sound practices under India’s Plastic Waste Management Rules. The company also partners with local authorities and NGOs to raise awareness on the importance of segregation at source and to drive public participation in recycling initiatives.
“For us, sustainability is about engineering systems that prevent waste from ever becoming waste,” said Mr. Madhusudhan Agalpady, Founder and Managing Director of Maav Industries Ltd. “We’ve spent years building a closed-loop model for plastics, and scaling this further demonstrates how technology, partnerships, and public engagement can deliver industrial growth alongside environmental responsibility.”
Maav’s recycling system processes a wide range of post-use plastic—such as broken furniture, crates, and packaging—and transforms it into durable, reusable products. These efforts directly support India’s circular economy goals by reducing landfill waste and minimizing dependence on virgin raw materials.
