Ekya Cares: Ekya Schools introduces Service Learning Program

Ekya School Byrathi organizes Joy of Giving’ campaign

Bangalore: Ekya Schools has introduced a special initiative ‘Service Learning Program’ for students and teachers. SLP is an extensive program where students can be involved in activities beyond their academics. Commenced with an idea to focus on the importance of social responsibilities in handling community and environmental issues, SLP aims to bring students and teachers communities together, build their bond stronger and work for a noble cause. Under this program, Ekya is organizing various campaigns across its campuses.

Ekya School Byrathi is organizing a campaign ‘Joy of Giving’ as they believe generosity is a trait and children should embrace it. It aims at providing the basic needs of the people, contributing to their well-being and health, and supporting AIR Humanitarian Home, an old age home in the neighborhood.

Through the campaign, the students have collected items such as blankets, old clothes, shoes, housekeeping materials, foodstuff, utensils, books, stationery items, toys/ puzzles and donated them to the AIR Humanitarian Home on December 20, 2021.

Speaking about the campaign, Dr. Tristha Ramamurthy, Founder & Managing Director, Ekya Schools, and Provost, CMR University said, “At Ekya, our main aim is to empower young minds to make a difference in the world. We are delighted to introduce the Service Learning Program. The program will help develop students’ potentials in acquiring value-based knowledge as well as the moral of contributing to the community. I would like to encourage students, parents, teachers, and other organizations to come forward and contribute what they can as a means of giving back to the community and providing positive social value. I am sure with this program, we will be able to make a huge difference to those who need help and support.”

Ever since the covid-19 pandemic, students have forgotten about the real school experience. One of the vital tasks of education is to nurture the capacity for empathy, to be able to be in a group cooperatively, and understand the impact of behavior on other people. Joy is contagious after all and the happiness that we get when we give something to someone is unparalleled. So to all parents and children out there, let us all pack our lives with joy and happiness, let us be grateful for all the things we have in our lives, and let us all come together to make the lives of those not as fortunate as us a little brighter.
